The Explosion's 'Here I Am' video online

The Explosion's new video for "Here I Am" is online now. You can stream it from the band's MySpace site. The band's new record Black Tape arrives on Tarantulas / Virgin this Tuesday October 5th. They've announced an appearance on Late Night With Conan O'Brien to support the release, it's set to air on Thursday, October 21st.

I heard that song through Window's media player awhile ago. The Explosion have always been poppy, but that was kind of an overload for me.

Well, it's basically like an extension of high school, in my opinion. All the cool kids with the trendy haircuts have lots of friends, and all the geeks with their high contrast webcam shots don't. There's plenty of cliques, too, but those are mostly composed of band sluts. On the other hand, it's a good way to keep in touch with your 'real life' friends if you don't have the attention span for e.mail and you can't IM them, because you can leave cryptic or witty little comments on their profiles. Oh, and if the website is under maintenance, they let you play PacMan until it comes back online. That's what sold me.

Is this ANOTHER in the long line to go down? Distillers, H2O, Offspring (back in 97), Strike Anywhere (not that they've turned to shit but come on, Exit English was a letdown and you all know it), MXPX, Goldfinger, etc. Please not the fucking Explosion.

Very few bands "hit" every single time. Even the revered Jawbreaker was seen to have "flopped" with the release of the now classic Dear You at first.

Has anybody heard any other tarantula bands' CDs? I loved the compilation that came with whatever EP that was called, but I haven't seen a review of anything except the Faux, which is alright

darker my love (timmy from the nerve agents) is good but i don't think they've actually released anything yet. the suicide file was on that comp but aren't actually on tarantula. but they were fucking amazing and you NEED their self titled EP on indecision.

tarantulas is the explosion's indie record label that they own and put out other records through (lot six, darker my love, the bronx, distillers, the static age, etc)

Talk shit all you want, but you all know we wouldn't mind if this band were the next big thing as opposed to the faggy shit bands out there like Taking Back Sunday.

Not that I'm defending Taking Back Sunday, but I never understood how you can call songs about girls "faggy shit." It might be really bad music, but they are not talking about their homosexual lovers are they?

I really don't see all the hoopla about how this band sucks now. I think the song is good (God forbid they actually write a SONG) and really not all that different of what they usually play.
