River City Rebels and The Star Spangles New Years at CBGB

The River City Rebels have announced that they'll play CBGBs in New York City on New Years Eve. They'll share the stage with Thee Minks, Electric Shadows, Lady Unluck and The Star Spangles. The Rebels will close out `04 at 11:00 pm with the Spangles kicking off `05 at midnight.

The Rebels' search for a second guitarist continues. They'll be holding auditions in early January in NYC. Interested applicants should head to their website for a list of criteria and information on how to get in touch with the band.

Everyone is saying that the Rebels have soldout and that they used to be nice guys but now their assholes. All that is bullshit!!! I talk to The Bopper after the show in Portland on Monday, and we talked for probably a half hour or more about music. One of the nicest Band members that I have talk to after a show (Along with Matt from The Explosion) He said that he had been listening to the New York Dolls and Johnny Thunders and 70's style punk more than he ever had, in the last year and thats partly why they had the "Dolls" type album. We also talked about Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, T-Rex, and a shit load of other bands. Real nice guy, I don't know why everyone thinks they need to dog on a band if they don't like them.

Almost all people in bands are nice to "fans". That's who buys the records. It's just good business. You find out if someone's truly an asshole when you deal with someone who has nothing to gain from you. I'm not saying anything bad about Dan, he's a nice guy, but you can't say someone's not an ass(in general) because they talked to you after a show.

I don't know I think thats partly true, but I told him that I only have Hate To Be Loved (thier new album) and he still took the time to come up to me and talk becuase he saw me singing along. He also told me to give him a e-mail and we could trade bands and music, I think he was being real and if he was just selling then it worked becuse I'll be buying other albums. Oh, and to the guy who said that thier only nice to chick, I'm a dude.

I agree, I don't see how the hell they couldve sold out. I dont like the new album as much as their older stuff, but I still think they are a great band. I saw them play in Fresno, CA to about 40 people and they played like there was a 1000 in attendance.

Yeah, in Portland there was 20 maybe 30 people there and The bopper said he had a great time, and you could say that they say that in every town but they played harder than most the bands I've ever seen.

They were all super nice to me and a couple of my friends at the 2001 Warped tour. They played the last set of the night on some small stage and just hung out with us afterwards. Blink 182 was doing this one show of the tour so everyone was over in that area. Couldn't of been cooler to us. I don't go the sold out route I simply don't like the new record. The whole new image and sound isn't my style. They just played a bar here in Vegas here for like 5 bucks so I know it isn't about the dough. I sure was a happy 15 year year old punk kid when they hooked my broke ass up with "Racism, Religion, and War." Stil love that record.

Next they'll be playing Motley Crue and Poison-style rock n' roll. All those bands were trying to do was emulate the Dolls as well. Its a natural progression. Before you know, we'll have a punk band morph into another Mr. Big. My money is on Atreyu.
