Holy crap man, barely into their 20s. I hate it when stuff like this happens.

brian went out living life to the fullest with the people he loved. he lost his life attempting to save his friend, and that speaks volumes for him: thinking of others before himself. his influence and inspiration to everyone he talked to won't be forgotten and we're going to miss him. i hope you found the peace of mind you always wanted for us all, brian. preskill

Well, I suppose we could blow up Arizona as well and just make New Mexico Bay....I bet Bill would have liked that. This is like the first baby born in the new year that gets showered with presents so as a show of good faith there will be no off color comments or remarks....at least from me. -Chinatown Imposter #44

Not to speculate too much but I believe there was intense flash flooding in Prescott during this time which makes me wonder if that had a part in this tragic event.
Someone (January 2, 2005)
Tragic. My condolences to his family and friends. On another note, it's kind of nice to see someone Not die due to drugs or stupidity. Rest well Brian.

I haven't seen Brian in a few years, but he was one of the most intelligent, genuine people I have ever known. His zest for life was unsurpassed, as was his talent, vision, and perseverence. My condolences to his family, and his bandmates who are all like brothers to him. Anyone who saw Bueno/AA perform knew they were witnessing something unique and special, and those who got the chance to spend any amount of time with Brian surely felt the same way. Rest in peace Brian. Mike Legue

I live here in Prescott and what happened was tragic. The paper stated that four young men had decided to go canoeing, one would meet them at the lake down stream and the other three got in the canoe. As they went down the stream they saw that an eddy was up ahead and two of the boys decided to bail, but the one was to afraid. So the other two grabed on to the canoe and decided to ride it out with their friend. unfortunatly the canoe went under, and only one of the young men made it to shore. Parts of the canoe were found later that day but their were no signs of the two young men. My condolances go out to both of the young mens families. May god rest their souls Brian Gianelli and Luke Augosta.

I had the pleasure of seeing Bueno perform about 3 or 4 years ago at a Volcom show in California. The guitarist in my old band grew up in Prescott and turned the whole band on to them. They were a great band, and they were genuinely nice guys. "Ours Is A Path" is an amazing song that really makes me think of some great times in my life. I have always checked up on Bueno/All Autonomy and really hoped they would release some new stuff and tour again. I am deeply saddened that this happened, and I will truly miss Bueno. My thoughts go out to the rest of the band and the family. Rest In Peace. -J F

Brian was my cousin...and he will be greatly missed. He was a genius and ahead of his time. Thank you all for your posts. Brian will be very missed by all. B- I love you. ~Gina Gianelli

I see that my sister Gina posted as well. I am at a loss 4 words right now. Brian was my cousin, friend and in many ways a roll model. Even though he was younger than I, he always challenged me to think outside the box. The energy his personality brought into my life will be forever missed. I always admired his lyrical ability. Whenever I wrote lyrics that I felt were good, I'd read something he had written and realize i was out of my league. Even though you're gone Brian, I know that in 2years i'll be doing the same thing. I miss u b and I will never forget u. Jeff Gianelli

I was saddened to learn it was Brian and Luke who lost their lives while canoeing. The town of Prescott has morned their loss at such a young age. We will miss them and will never forget their impact during their short stay on the earth. Linda Thompson (Michael Thompson's mother, former drummer of Bueno)

Brian lived across the street from me in mexico. I will always remember sitting on the beach listening to his thoughts on life. Brian was an insporation to everyone who crossed his path. My life was forever changed the day I met Brian. He was cool, but never too cool to be a friend to anyone who needed one. I feel lucky to have been toutched by his greatness. Mexico memories forever Brian! I will miss you so very much. NAMASTE C.L.T

Brian was the greatest inspiration that I have ever had. No matter what, his legacy will always remind me of the specialness of life, and the effects that music can have on life. I have always admired his lyrics, and his music. I have the lyrics on my wall, and I have devoted an entire Yahoo! group to their honor. My deepest Condolences to His family, band, friends, everyone at the Catalyst, the Mad linguist, the workers at Pangea, and everyone else who was affected by him. Just keep on making a difference in the world, in his memory. I love you, Brian. Rest in peace. Christine

prescott has lost not only one of it's gretest muscians, but one of it's greatest people. i will forever remember brian's easy smile and unique approach to life. he always had time to talk to everyone ,it was always a great pleasure for me to see him bombing around town on his skateboard with nicole. he will be missed dearly by everyone who ever had the pleasure to cross his path. brian, "preskil" will never forget.

Brain was a poet, a preacher, and someone who believed in something other than the mundane and bland world. He had a cause and an ability to have people follow him and learn; he opened eyes and did something. One of my favorite stories of Brian was when he went to Seattle to protest against the W.T.O. and Bueno had a chance to play a big show in Phoenix. We had to tell the promoter Will, that we couldn’t play because Brian went to Seattle to give the World a piece of his mind. I remember hearing Will laugh thinking ‘of course Brian would be in Seattle.’ To this day I can’t think of anyone that wanted change in this world more than Brian. I hope that his legacy will inspire all of us to become involved and believe in something other than money, power and greed. I will love and miss Brian with all of my heart. Mike Thompson

Brian was one of the most inspiring, encouraging, enlightening, and refreshing people I've ever known, and I weep that I did not know him longer and learn all i could have from him. The world didn't deserve to lose such a great thinker and musician so early. He met every day with such a passion and desire for life that just being around him, it was hard not to open your eyes and see the world around you in a new light. When i met Brian, i just recently moved to prescott. he had such amazing ideas, and visions that ive never even thought of, i really dont think anyone did. he was so ahed of his time. The memories i have of Brian are so clear to me, i know ill never forget them. I remember once when he came to visit my cousin and friend, and we met, he explained how he used to try to sing "punk rock" back in bueno, and now that the band had a new name, and a new start, he sang with what he had. (which is absolutaly beautiful) he wrote down the lyrics to a song he was working on, and play'd it on acustic guitar for us, it got me in tears in a matter of seconds. He had such an amazing talent for touching peoples hearts. After he left, but then he came back to give me a hug, because he forgot to. ill ALWAYS remember that, and how thoughtful it was. ive never had so much respect show rest of comment

I didnt know Brian well but i am deeply sadden about his death. Bueno was the frist band i ever saw and I really looked up to them. It give me tears in my eyes think about this. For all the family and friends im truly feel terrible for you. RIP Brian Gianelli But on another note maybe we should look at it in a different light. Like his cd name "Finding Humor in Tragedy". Maybe not in a Humorous way but in a positive way. My friend told me when before it happend he was having the most fun time he had have had. And that to me is the best way of going out. And i so sorry for every one that knew him

What a tragedy. About six years ago, I saw Bueno for the first and only time down in Tucson with NOFX and Youth Brigade. To this day I still believe that they were the best live band that I have ever seen and I've tried to keep myself updated with their music. Brian's lyrics and passion for music and life inspired me to pursue my own dreams in music. RIP

I was lucky enough to be one of the many whose lives were touched by Brian. He was a truly amazing person. I first got to know him when he had the job of driving a van for my school. I had the opportunity to to get to know through our talks on the hour trip from home to school and from school to home. He helped me through my high school life and all the silly problems that go with that in a way that made me learn and grow in a way that I would not have otherwise. He was a good friend. I wish I had the opportunity to learn more but than again maybe can.

I knew Brian for about 8-10 years while I was growing up in Prescott. He was one of those guys that you would see around town and would always smile and be happy to see you, no matter who you were! He was more caring about the world and people around him...then we was for his own self.
Brian was a truly amazing individual who inspired so many people to make a difference in this world.
I respect all that Brian acomplished in his life. I know the wonderful music he wrote will live on.
My thoughts go out to the Gianelli family and to mainly Mr. G who loved his son greatly.
I made this photograph of Granite Creek in Watson Woods on Dec. 29th about 1 hour after Brian and Luke were out cannoing. This image will hold great memory for me. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=3084874 show rest of comment

Fuck, I just read this and cant beleive it. I have played in AZ bands for over a decade and Bueno was by far the nicest group of guys that I have played a show with. I was able to catch Bueno in cali while on a trip. They had been recording all day for the ep 'nothing new for trash like you' and they still came out to 'canes and put on a hell of a show. I talked to Brian before and after the show about the new album, they recorded over 10 hours that day and STILL made it out to play for the 10 or so Bueno faithful there to see them, Brian was a class guy and very talented songwriter, I'll never forget him

You are all so amazing. I can't believe your still commenting on this page. I search the web often for Brians name because I want to feel him again, and all your comments on here make him here, now. Damn, how I just want to hug the man. He could hug like no other. It's been 4 months since my wife, son and I left prescott for Portland, OR. Our band was going to come up here and make music. I'm so sad for how things worked out. I want to hear the lyrics he was going to write and the completely creative, unheard songs and guitar parts. I miss playing in our band, and I especially miss playing for all of you. Mike Rhodes

my most heartfelt condolences go out to all friends and family. I was and always will be a huge fan of his music and message. To say he was talented would be an undestatement. I was looking forward to seeing what the band would pregress into. But at least I can still put on some Bueno and appreciate what he left behind. |
