Break-ups: The Lido Venice (2004-2005)

The Lido Venice [review], after recording one more EP for ECA Records and playing some shows this spring in support, will cease touring full-time. The New England-based band cited, amongst other undisclosed reasons, the fact of several members living on the opposite coast of the country as to the apparent demise.

However, TLV guitarist/vocalist Ben Potrykus and bassist/vocalist Sam Potrykus have formed, with ECA owner David Conway and guitarist Jerry MacDonald, Get Loose. The band recently released their first demo and will have a second coming out in several weeks, which will be online and free to download on ECA's site. You can check out rougher versions for now at their myspace and pureVOLUME pages. The band also plans on doing a short east coast tour in March and a longer trek early this coming summer.

Okay so here's the deal on this Ben character. He is in whatever style of music is hot at the moment. When he was in high school he was in a shitty pop punk band called (hmm..i forgot), then when emo became popular moved to The Receiving End of Sirens, and then when indie rock hit big he moved to the Lido Venice. he has about as much cred as the Madden brothers.

actually you have it wrong ben was in the drive (ex fake id) then was in the receiving end of sirens and when they wanted to get bigger and sign he decided to stay in college. and then he started the lido venice and when they broke up he started get loose. and the drive and treos were some of the first bands too do what became popular, i think they deserve more credit than they are given. & thats fucking stupid to say hes in whatever style of music is popular. what band are you in? ps. when did indie rock hit big? i missed that. haha

this is kinda random.. this whole article. i was in the lido venice. ben and sam formed get loose with our friends jerry and dave. the remaining three of us (myself, charlie, and mike) are playing in a new band right now that is un-named as of yet, along with my roomate chris. the lido venice will likely begin recording a full length LP in about a month or so. that will also probably be released on eca. we will probably play a release show / last show at that time. xoxo
