The San Pedro Film Society and Rocket Fuel Films will be presenting "We Jam Econo - The Story Of The Minutemen," next Friday, February 25th, at 8 P.M. at San Pedro, CA's Warner Grand Theatre. Advance tickets are available here.
The full-length documentary chronicles the outfit from their earliest days in the 1980s to the present times, collaborating footage from several live performances and over fifty interviews. Mike Watt and George Hurley of the band, along with director Tim Irwin and producer Keith Schieron will sit for a Q&A session with the audience after the screening. SST Records (19 comments)

The Minutemen are, augh, so good. I just listened to Double Nickels straight through today...perfect. Mike Watt is one of the best bassists, ever, and D. Boon's lyrics are poetry.

Amazing band........of course, around this time everything SST released was amazing. Mike Watt is still one of the most amazinf bassists alive.

Awesome band. Horrible that he died in Arizona of all places, further proving Arizona sucks elephant ass and should be avoided. But they let Henry Rollins stick his whore of a soulless whoring sellout whore no moral intergrity having whore head in some of the interviews. And Henry Rollins flat out sucks. 3+ Replies

finally a post about a legendary band without the obligatory post from some yellowcard fan saying how they suck... the minutmen set the standard for DIY punk more than any of the other bands of that time....they were inspirational for any punk band that does it the hard way.... read "Our Band Could Be Your Life" to know what I am talking about...

It's funny though, if they came out today, and called themselves punk, they would be shunned and mocked by the punk community. People would call them "gay," "shitty", and, ugh, "pretentious," completely discarding them as a washed up indie band. Most of their songs do not sound "punk" at all, but they are punk. That's part of the reason I don't understand why people will accept them and not a band like Modest Mouse. Matt Sweeney and Pavement's frontman have both said that Minutemen are their biggest influence, and I can deffinately see it. Minutemen and most art- and post-punk bands were more punk than the most notable punk bands becaues they completely challenged the notions of rock, while others just skewered them to a flavor they found savory. The Homosexuals, The Ex, The Fall, and Nomeansno are all old bands that did this. The Plot ot Blow UP the Eiffel Tower and Les show rest of comment 2+ Replies
