A new summer festival tour called Sounds Of The Underground has been announced and is scheduled to run from June 25th through the end of July in both indoor and outdoor venues in the US and Canada. The tour will bring together 18 hardcore and metal bands, including Clutch, Poison The Well, Opeth, Unearth, From Autumn To Ashes, Chimaira, Norma Jean, Every Time I Die, Strapping Young Lad, Throwdown, High On Fire, Devil Driver, All That Remains and A Life Once Lost. A "special half-time performance" will be put on by Gwar mid-way though the shows. Madball and Terror will play the East and West portions of the tour respectively, and select regional appearances will be made by the Red Chord (East coast markets), Fear Before The March Of Flames (Midwest and Southeast markets) and Himsa (Western markets). An additional headliner is still to be announced.
The tour is expected to become an annual summer event. The folks responsible for putting it together include Music Touring booking agent Tim Borror, Ferret Music executive/artist manager Paul Conroy, Ferret Music owner Carl Severson and artist manager Larry Mazer. Tickets are expected to be priced under $30 and organizers plan to pass along info on how and where to beat surcharges and get the best price for the shows. Dates have yet to be announced. Honestly, I'd go just for Clutch (who do seem slightly out of place on this tour). They have one of the most entertaining live shows ever, plus they sound amazing live. But shit, you throw in Strapping Young Lad and GWAR and we gots ourselves a party! -Dante 5+ Replies

It's the shittiness of Warped Tour mixed with the pretentious girls jeans, white belt, dyed black hair scenester assholes! Wonderful! I'm interested in ETID and Norma Jean, but not enough to pay 30 bucks. Where's the asskicking stage when you need it? 6+ Replies

That's sort of a strange title considering the fact that almost none of these bands are "underground" And those that are--well, they're underground because there aren't enough retarded XXX mall-hardcore clones to put them on a decent label...yet.

Warped tour for awful metalcore kids! Going to have stands to buy black hair dye too? And who has tighter pants contests for boys? And boys kissing boys booths?! Oh Oh and maybe even Myspace access!?!?!? 5+ Replies

quit bitching about it not really being underground bands. these bands for the most part are not part of the mainstream or known by that many people. hence underground. 3+ Replies

i'ld go for gwar. this is like a stepping stone for these bands...next year they will try and be on taste of chaos..and then one day they will aspire to be on warped...except for gwar that is...the only legitimate band on the tour - jones the bones - stevejones8770@yahoo.com 1+ Reply

There's only one thing I hate more than the sophomore/junior boys at my high school wearing tight girl pants and Norma Jean zip hoodies with their long hair and whiny emo pheromones, and that's Norma Jean's music. At least one good thing comes from their male fanbase: all of them are going to be sterile by the time it counts. Count me out. 2+ Replies

You guys are all fucking retarded. Anyone with a decent taste in metal music knows that Opeth is going to own that entire bill. They're worth the money alone.
Someone (March 14, 2005)
Okay, I am totally going for OPETH, I don't give a damn if I have to go out of state. they are the most brilliant metal band ever. 1+ Reply

god damn it all of you bitch about how it isnt "underground" enough for you. just shut the fuck up. if you dont like the bands..wait, heres an idea..THEN DONT GO. just cause you think you are special enough to have listened to ptw 3 years ago before everyone knew who they were doesnt make you better than anyone else. i honestly think itll be a great show, why? cause the bands are good. im not gonna not go just because the bands arent "underground" anymore. yea fbtmof and opeth will pwn all your faces. 2+ Replies

Sounds like something that must not be missed. im gonna go buy tickets as soon as they go on sale. I wanna see Every Time I Die, Poison The Well, Opeth, Unearth, From Autumn To Ashes, Norma Jean and Throwdown! cant wait. And to all you arrogant fucks out there, saying that this is for those "awful metalcore kids". Youre right, this is for those "awful metalcore kids", were cooler than you. So, with that said, i hope when u attempt to get in the pit at a REAL HARDCORE SHOW the "scenester assholes" beat the living shit out of you. I would. Your probably a weak emo-numetal loving crackhead. 3+ Replies

I've listened to bands like ETID and Norma Jean for a couple years now, and I play guitar in a metal-core band like them, but I don't wear tight girly pants. So why do you? YOU PEOPLE NEED TO REALIZE THAT MUSIC ISN'T ABOUT FASHION DAMMIT! 2+ Replies
