Break-ups: The Huntingtons (1995-2005)

The Huntingtons have announced they're bring an official end to their ten year career on July 1st 2005 at the Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, IL. The band have invited former guitarist and co-founder Cliffy to join them for the final show.

Tooth & Nail, who released the bulk of their catalog, will be producing a retrospective compilation which the band expects to include 30 Huntingtons originals including some previously unreleased material.

You can check out a review of High School Rock in the reviews archives. The band released their final self-titled album in 2003 via Fastmusic.

A drum fight between Max Weinberg and Alex Pappas would be like the fight between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi. It would be unprecedented. The thought of those two wanting to duke it out would just amaze me. Now, on the other hand, I strongly doubt that Max is Alex's father. That would just be weird. It would also be weird if Max cut Alex's hand in cloud city of Bespin. Okay, I'm getting too geeky for my own good. I'm getting riled up, I need to stop. A fiddle war would be difficult to comprehend too. The guy from Yellowcard has some impressive punk rock fiddle skills, but when you're talking about the Devil and Johnny, that is some really tough competition. Especially when there is a soul at stake. Johnny is a bad ass, so I think he would still win. Especially if the devil played fiddle like Will Ferrell's devil played the guitar in that skit wi

Why do they need to be taken out? It's not as if most punk bands nowadays are trying to emulate something good like the Ramones. Most of 'em nowadays are trying to emulate crappy screamo.

As if Ramones clone bands weren't bad enough, someone had to combine it with Christianity. Sheesh. People have the right to think whatever they want, but, well...would you take a Scientologist band seriously? One's religious beliefs dont necessarily have a direct bearing on the quality of one's music but I don't see any reason to respect the art of those who can't separate mass hysteria and fantasy from fact and useful symbolism. If you believe in heaven and hell and a personified God and Satan in this day and age your art is inherently ruined by ignorance.

if you believe that christianity has been disproved this day and age, your argument has been ruined by ignorance as well. Sure, I'm not a big fan of christian bands...however, there are plenty of good christians in bands that make music. When your music is a representation of your life, if you're a christian, christian ideals will most likely be represented in your art...some more subtle than others.

Alright well since you're so knowledgable, educate me. Tell me about the aspects of Christianity which you feel have not been explained away by modern science, philosophy, philology, etc. Maybe I've missed some essential bit of info somewhere along the line.

You're wrong...all this bizarre superstring and m-theory stuff that has come out of theoretical physics in the past two decades tells us that the universe has always existed. It's a hard concept to wrap your head around at first but what we know now is that our universe is a membrane floating in higher space; collision with another brane probably caused the "big bang" and does periodically for all eternity. See: Hawking, Michio Kaku, Brian Green for a much more eloquent explanation

Nothing can be proved against Christianity. what theories have been concluded have yet to be proven. such as Darwin's theory of evolution, the man himself discredited the theory before he died and yet people still believe it. to answer your questions in a more thorough way, i suggest you check out the book The Case for Christ: A Journalist's Personal Investigation of the Evidence for Jesus by Lee Strobel. He was an atheist who was trying to disprove Christianity because he hated Christians. "Darwin's theory of evolution" is obsolete. Our understanding of evolutionary biology is far more complex today, and it is constantly being improved and modified by constant debate and scientific progress. Evolution isn't just a theory; it's a inevitability that's tied to the very nature of all natural processes and of the universe itself. If evolution were invalid then you wouldn't have inhereted your parents' genetic traits. If evolution didn't exist then African elephans wouldn't be adapting to poaching by having shorter tusks. I'm sorry, but you don't understand what you're talking about. Why don't YOU do some research. Historicity of the Bible is one thing but when science has an answer--though often incomplete--it is the best we've got. We don't need got to explain the universe, and we don't need him to explain nature. Good lord why am I waisting my time.

well, i believe that things evolve on a smaller scale and i believe in adaptation. however,until they prove that that elephant is going to turn into a bird in a million years,i don't think its valid that the human race, in all its greatness and complexity, came from a single celled organism that has just multiplied and matured. the human race has evolved and adapted to its different surroundings,but a human being has always been a human being. Also your elephant comment has nothing to do with evolution but has to do with natural selection. Its not that elephants tusks are growing shorter because they are evolving but rather the poaching of the long tusked elephants leave only the short tusked elephants to reproduce.I have done research as a matter of fact,but you didn't post an interest on my views of evolution. i skimmed over it because it wasn't the point of my post.

I saw these guys live a few years ago and I remember just being totally blown away. 'Course abck then my favorite bands were Side Walk Slam,NFG,& MxPx... But I do remember the entire crowd in this little gym getting up on the stage and just singing along to There'll Be No Pool Party Tonight. It's a shame they're breaking up, but congrats to them on staying at it for 10 years.
