Dinosaur Jr. announces summer tour dates

On the heels of the second set of Dinosaur Jr. reissues, this time via Merge Records, the band has announced their first tour in fifteen years with the original lineup of J. Mascis, Emmett Jefferson Murphy III and Lou Barlow. The band will first reunite on national TV with a performance on the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson before heading out on a world tour this summer.

The first dates take place in the UK this June, followed by the announced US dates. After that, the band will head to Japan for three dates. You can check out a review of one of the original records that was reissued: You're Living All Over Me.

I meant the original lineup; I clarified the story. As far as I know, Barlow left to form Sebadoh before Green Mind was released in 1991.

Wow, I din't even realize Lou Barlow was back! The only sebadoh record I dug was "bakesale" so, i'd much rather have dino. jr.!

dinosaur jr was the first show i ever went to, in 7th grade. good times. so that was 10 or 11 years ago i guess.

only thing i ever liked that these guys did was backing up del on the judgement night soundtrack, back when it was still fairly novel and inventive to mix rock and rap. no real point to the last half of that... oh well

this is amazing.. i was watching the year that punk broke... or broke out today.. it's a 91"? sonic youth/nirvana tour on film, and dinosaur jr are on it a bit... it's getting released on dvd soon..

I love Dinosaur Jr. and own all the albums, but I saw them live back in 1993 and they were horrible! Plus it was in a small venue, which usually makes the concert better. I hope this time around they're MUCH better. Anyways, Dino Jr. is great & I'm glad they're back.

Rock! I can't believe I get to see the pixies and now Dinosaur Jr. I always thought I had missed out on those bands. So anyone know who else will be playing lollapalooza? I got a couple of those pre ticktes and I'm hoping I like the bands; if not I'm scalping.

Dinosaur Jr. looked so fucking bored, I wonder why they are even doing this. J. Mascis looks like that old homeless guy on the corner - waist length grey hair, old green sweater... I never really dug these guys the first time around.

yes, yes they did. i just watched it on tivo. was it grey hair? i thought he bleached it blonde. was it just me, or did he fuck up numerous times? it sounded like murph was off at the beginning and j was either out of key or out of tune. i thought it was a pretty shitty performance and i used to be a HUGE fan. i'm now contemplating if i would go to see them or not.

that after their two songs, they didn't even mumble a meek thank you to the 30 some-odd DJ fans who came to this taping. The studio where filming was happening only held about 100 seats, about thirty came to see DJ, and the others were tourists..
