In the meantime Hot Water Music will be releasing another singles collection via No Idea. They're shooting for a fall release date and promise "it won't take as long as the Rumbleseat record has."First of all, Hot Water Music is not breaking up. For better or worse, it's pretty damn doubtful that we ever will end the band. We will, however, be taking an extended break due to the fact that Chuck has decided to concentrate on life off of the road for an as-of-yet undetermined amount of time. Although it would admittedly be more exciting if there had been some massive backstage blowout between the four of us over who drank the last Corona, there was no such incident, so we gotta go with the boring old excuse of family. If you'll remember from physics that for each action there is an equal and opposite reaction, then you should read on…
As for Chris, George, and myself, we just can't get enough of driving across Texas on I-10 so we're going to keep fighting the good fight. New songs, new name, new band. And man, are we fucking stoked about it! We've already written almost an entire album's worth of material and we're not slowing down at all. Around the 14th of this month, the three of us will be heading up to Salad Days and getting into the thick of things with Brian McTernan in the hopes of birthing some extremely ass-kicking demos. As far as band name, label, release dates, if anyone else is gonna be in this thing--your guess is as good as ours (don't take this as an open letter to send us all your ass-up ideas for band names; send good ones only, please). We're hoping to start playing some shows around Gville in the next 4 to 6 weeks, and of course we'll give you more info as things start getting off the ground a bit more. We'll also be launching independent web, myspace, and purevolume sites for the new band as soon as possible… like when we have a name, maybe.

I knew I should of just gone to their show with Flogging Molly and sit through their fans. I'm so pissed I didn't go just because they were playing with Flogging Molly. It ALWAYS happens. 2+ Replies

I've been a diehard fan of this band for years, and its funny cuz i was just thinking about this the other day, that their time to call it quits might be coming soon. I'm glad its not 100% over, but i wasn't totally pleased with the direction they were going in...so i think this is for the best. 1+ Reply

Goddammit. At least I caught their last show here. I wonder if this will turn into a Descendents/ALL kind of situation. 2+ Replies

I feel sad and excited at the same time. I hope things go well and I can't wait to hear this shit. P.S. These guys are really nice...

When I talked to Chuck in February, he kind of hinted at this happening. 1+ Reply

If they decided to call it a day, it would suck, but at the same time, what else can they do? And who among us hasn't seen them atleast 6 times? 9+ Replies

They should all be beaten backstage if they they were fighting over who got to drink the last of that piss-water. (Corona) 3+ Replies

Didn't No Division come out after a hiatus by the band? If so this could be a good thing. I think that the problem with this band is that they write and record so often that they get burned out and put on an autodrive. The music they make is good but not as great as their older stuff. Maybe with this break they can take some time with the next album and it will be as awsome as ND 3+ Replies

This band already broke up once... years ago.... so this should be no real big surprise.

I bet they don't get back together. And I was just thinking literally like 5 minutes ago how much it would suck if HWM broke up before I got to see them.
Someone (May 18, 2005)
I've seen them well over 20 times probably, but I live in Gainesville and have been a fan since No Division came out. This side project should be interesting, I just hope Chuck makes the most of his time off and they can tour as a full band again soon. 2+ Replies

Band Name = The band formerly known as Hot Water Music I think they've hit rock bottom as far as putting out good music once they signed to Epitaph.....so hopefully, they can get refocused and start kickin' out some jams again. 2+ Replies

To say that I'm bummed out about this would be an understatement. I definitely understand that these dudes have been at it for a long ass time! It's not my position to pass judgement on these four dudes that I can barely say I know for the decisions thate they make.
Just know that they have my blessings in whichever trails they choose to make.
Let me say this. If it means anything... on a website that is covered with advertisements for bands that couldn't care less about their community... I first heard HWM after buying a Fuel For the Hate Game record from a friend who was distroing them in our city, along with other really great artists. I prepaid for mine, and he got me one as soon as the mail came in the following week.
I listened to that record, I put it on a cassette tape, I listened to it more. I couldn't fucking believe at how beautiful music show rest of comment 4+ Replies

I am from Rio de Janeiro and I adore Hot Water music, a band that cannot never end. they have thousands of people here in the brazil that like the band, lack to do a show in Rio de Janeiro. A great hug to all and good luck. Ismael Abdo - Brazil - Rio de Janeiro 1+ Reply

Corona is the worst beer ever. No one with half a brain would pay import prices for watery piss beer from Mexico, of all places. Aren't Mexican products supposed to be dirt cheap for us Aryans? 4+ Replies

Cool band....sucks they're calling it quits. I'll admit they borrow more than a little from early Husker Du, but that's not a bad thing to borrow from if you need to borrow. 3+ Replies

Thank GOD. They're starting to fall into the Small Brown Bike pattern of putting out really, REALLY bad albums after a slew of incredibly good ones before breaking up. They need this break SO BAD. 1+ Reply
