Fat Wreck Chords has signed Strike Anywhere. The band will enter the studio this Winter to record their label debut and followup to both the recent To Live In Discontent and 2003's Exit English, both released through Jade Tree. The album is set for a tentative release in Spring 2006.
The band will also be on Warped Tour this Summer. Fat Wreck Chords (216 comments)

This makes up for the terrible Epoxies record. Shit ain't got no hooks. It also makes up for Smoke & Fire who are just a piss poor HWM with some A Wilhelm Scream thrown in for good measure. 6+ Replies

Is anybody really surprised over this? I think it'll be pretty cool having them on Fat, but there was nothing wrong with Jade Tree either.
Someone (May 23, 2005)
That's unexpected, Jade Tree seemed to be working out. I'm not bothered by it or anything though.
joeg (May 23, 2005)
not really any other label that i could see them going to. i got no problem with the move.

why is this surprising? they sound exactly like a band Fat would sign to me.. they rock too 1+ Reply
descenall888 (May 23, 2005)
definitely no surprise here, considering fat has worked with them in the past. i say congrats to them.
Someone (May 23, 2005)
this is fucking bullshit......they are a terrible band!!! here's an idea mr mike, sign a band with some promise, and not some crap ass band that made 2 or three shitty full lengths already! 2+ Replies

This does not surprise me at all. They played the FAT Rock Against Bush showcase in NYC. They did a 7" for that Fat Club dealie a couple years back. I know certain people who work at Fat have been pushing for Mike to sign them for a good couple of years now. Now that shitty excuse for a b-sides record makes sense; they were finishing out their 3-record contract with Jade Tree.
Someone (May 23, 2005)
Well sure, FAT needs sometime to fill their "Political melodic HC" slot now that they've lost Rise Against to the majors. 4+ Replies

Good - Fat has better distribution than Jade Tree anyhow. Plus, now they have a chance to be the musical guest on Conan O'Brien like NOFX! (BTW This isn't some kind of sarcastic backhanded bullshit sellout cry - I truly like SA, NOFX and Conan.)
sickboi (chris) (May 23, 2005)
I was wondering when this was gonna be announced. Congrats to them, they deserve it. This brings the RVA/Fat relationship to 3 I believe (Avail, Smoke or Fire, Strike Anywhere). Cmon Mike, sign Ann Beretta already, lets get this fucking city rocking! 4+ Replies

Hmm, I like fat and I love strike anywhere, but I think I would've rather they stayed on Jade Tree.

FUCK YES!!!!! They were one of the only bands that I am obsessed with that wasn't on fat...now they are! HOLY FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK. sorry, but that is just really really sweet. p.s. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS 2+ Replies

I guess it makes sense given the work Strike Anywhere has done with Fat, but I really do wonder why it is that they decided to leave Jade Tree. I have heard stuff about JadeTree treating their bands really well...I guess it's not a big deal in the long run. Thank god it's not a major.

Yea, a lot of people here called this so i'm not too suprised. But this is a good move for both parties. 1+ Reply

I love both Jade Tree and Fat Wreck, but I love Jade Tree more so uh I dunno something about this article made my stomach churn? I think it's because these guys just seemed right on Jade Tree?

I'm glad FAT WRECK is starting to pick up some good new artists instead of releasing meiodcre discs from washed-up street punk acts like they have been last couple of years. Now theyve got AGAINST ME!, SMOKE OR FIRE (fuck you, I like them!) and STRIKE ANYWHERE. 1+ Reply

From fatwreck.com: "With this latest addition we have officially completed the Richmond trifecta, or holy trinity, or whatever. " So who's the third part in the trinity? When I think "richmond trifecta" I think avail ann beretta strike anywhere, but AB are not on fat. 2+ Replies

GREAT SIGN! FAT usually gets the best out of bands and this band is what I call a "prospect" band. Exit English is good but by no means has this band reached their full potential. 2+ Replies

This is completely random but I need some help. Its about the line from the movie Say Anything where the dudes like "she gave me a pen. I gave her my heart, and she gave me a pen"...well I'm almost positive that its in a song (like in the beginning) but can't think of it. Does anyone out there know anything cuz theres $5 on the line. -Stell 3+ Replies

THORP SIGNS MAD SIN THORP RECORDS welcomes Holland's psychobilly kings, MAD SIN to the family. MAD SIN has been at the forefront of their genre (along with their friends in the NECROMANTIX, HORROR POPS, and TIGER ARMY) for years. Expect the first proper North American MAD SIN release, entitled "...Sweet & Innocent?...Loud & dirty!!" out on THORP on August 23rd 2005. Download "Sacred Ole Heart" now and let us know what you think.

On the G7 site, they make a joke about signing to a new record label. I wonder if this is a dig at Anti Flag.
Someone (May 24, 2005)
I think they fit the Fat roster pretty well but I don't care for this band one bit. Everyone seems to love them but I find them so incredibly dull and bland. 2+ Replies

well, i actually like Jade Tree a lot, they did some really amazing hardcore bands like Trial by Fire and put out an Alklaine Trio/Hot Water Music album...so I am a little sad. I saw Strike Anywhere here in Tokyo about a month ago (im not japanese) and they seemed ok with Jade Tree. This band is amazing and whatever label theyre on, theyre still gonna be good. I just think Fat kinda sold out with their little "rock against bush" deal (i mean, fuck bush, but what the hell?) also, anti-flag signed to RCA, which is why i think that Fat Mike wanted someone to fill in...which is gay. O well. Change is a sound. 3+ Replies

off a little bit...but what happened to fat wreck's homepage? i haven't been able to get it in a few weeks now.
Someone (May 24, 2005)
jade tree is so much more of a solid label. but i guess this is the punk move for them, by punk of course i mean as close to a major as possible, which is what the ywere gunning for with the last lackluster lp. i love SA but that last record had one misssion in mind, to get them signed and mission not accomplished. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee. got to looooove the drake. 4+ Replies

for all you fools saying this is unexpected and shocking...you are just that - fools strike anywhere put out a release on FAT before they ever put anything out on Jade Tree.

now perhaps a tour that should happen will. Propagandhi and Strike Anywhere. that would be fucking amazing! two of the best political "punk" bands.
