Free "CBGB Forever" show this Wednesday, August 31st in NYC with Blondie, Bouncing Souls

Tomorrow is the last day of CBGB's lease at 313 and 315 Bowery. To raise public awareness of the legendary club's effort to have it's lease renewed a free show will be thrown tomorrow in New York's Washington Square Park. Little Steven's Underground Garage has organized the CBGB Forever show, set to take place between 3 and 7 PM, rain or shine. The concert will feature Blondie, the Bouncing Souls, Sic Fucks, Gavin Rossdale's new band Institute, the Charms, the Chesterfield Kings and special guests.

The concert will be streamed online from Download.com. Check there tomorrow for links and more information.

hmm... good point. its just punk clubs that mean a lot close all the time. why is cbgb's any different. and besides, aren't they already "saved"?

no, they aren't saved. far from it. i know the guys that work there well. cbgb's started really legendery bands (ramones, blondie, etc etc). but the difference is, its a landmark! a real history of whos who in music started there.

i might try to go to this. violence shouldn't be an issue, since there are events happening in wsp all the time. unless some unruly kids start making trouble, of course, but seeing as how it's right in the middle of nyu, the cops have that place pretty well covered.

i like nypd that works around NYU, they're always just standing around, not busting anyones balls. actually i don't mind any nypd really except nypd traffic, i hate those assholes. i know tehy must have done something stupid to get demoted to there, but jesus christ, they're always power-tripping. i had my balls busted by one of those butt-fuckers for 30 minutes once cause my headlight was out.

also, they don't plan on leaving unless they're forced out. basically, if the lease isn't renewed, they'll just stay as a squat until they're forced out. maybe? that sounds like it may be the plan.
