Warcon to release "Taste of Christmas" compilation

Warcon has announced the Taste of Christmas compilation. The record, due out October 25th will include bands such as The Used, Funeral For A Friend, Emery, Skindred, Like Yesterday, Gastby's American Dream and others.

In addition, the record will feature a track from Street Drum Corps featuring Bert McCraken of the Used. The band will be covering John Lennon's classic song, "Happy Christmas (War is Over)." McCracken will also be directing and performing in a video for the track that is expected around the same time.

So let me get this right...Warcon is this huge new label/corporation that decided the best way to gain street cred is to put out a Christmas album, the title of which is a pop culture refference that has less shelf life than pudding trapped behind your heater? What an awful idea. But seriously, I love Christmas music. I think it's some of the funniest most joy riddeled music ever. I look forward to late November just so I can hear all that shit you can't stand more than but once a year. But Christmas music should be left to the classics. If you wish to make a new song make sure it doesn't blow (Weezers song is good, as is Run DMC's). But please never cover the classics, chances are you'll screw them up. As for Warcon and this comp, it seems they're up and running like an inbreed hillbilly with scisors. -Dante

... What the fuck are you talking about with you Jimmy Eat World. .. I just listened to the Cd and Last Christmas is done by ROSES ARE RED, and Its better than the Jimmy eatworld version. About the Cd.... I was looking forward to listening it... Now that i have, im disappointed. 8 of 18 songs are good, thats it. :0/

if you want critique instead of just saying "haha this sucks"... the used's "alone this holiday" is reasonable, it gets stuck in my head, anyway. it's just that it's not new for this comp, it's been around for about three years. street drum corps & bert mccracken's cover of happy xmas is really good, in my opinion; i like it better than john's. from first to last's song is heavy as hell and has some insane drumming on it. funeral for a friend's song makes me vomit a little... skindred's song is comic relief... roses are red do a commendable cover. the smashup...whatever. opiate for the masses deliver another satisfyingly heavy song. amped, hah. if you think the novelty of hearing a familiar song played at a faster tempo is worthy of denoting it a "good song", this is for you. emery should probably die. my american heart get an A for effort with a reasonably passionate rendition
