AMP magazine to release "Video Archive for the Ages – Vol 2" DVD

AMP has announced plans to release their second DVD compilation on November 15th through MVD. The DVD will collect videos from Avail, Horrorpops, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Strike Anywhere, Strung Out, and many more on the disc which will be released with 5.1 surround sound.

Do people actually buy these sorts of things and sit around watching music videos? Weird. I must be really fucking old (23?), because this seems like an incredibly lame and uninteresting way to spend an evening.

i used to buy stuff like this all the time, and then i'd watch like half of them and get over it it is an incredibly lame way to spend an evening, but its no worse then sitting around watching regular tv

I like playing music / concert DVDs when I'm doing my homework. It's something I can still listen to unconciously while doing my work, but for periods when I opt to take a quick break there's some eye candy as well. - Kirby

Well, I'm 19, and I love putting on band DVDs when I've got nothing better to do (such as cleaning the room). The Against Me! and Bouncing Souls ones make good background music.

I got this live DVD comp from Netflix the other day called Noisy! First Punkervision Competition. The Propagandhi set(4 songs) was great, but the rest was...meh. Video compilations can become pretty boring after one sit through. By the way, does even know if there's a DVD copy of the entire Propagandhi set from the Noisy DVD?

Dear Amp I have re-edited your DVD so i would of been tempted to buy it, but instead you ruin it with some nu school assholery, which means i will not be investing my hard earned cash on your DVD. no i can put up with the casualties they were never amazing they were listenable, i wouldn't call them nu school, considering that they are musically ripping off any band from the 80's UK hardcore scene that they can.

AMP is a respectable organization. Even if you're not crazy about the bands, that doesn't mean that you should not want to "put a penny in AMP's pockets." I really think that's quite a hars thing to say. AMP is a really good magazine.

Id rather pick up MRR, Razorcake, or Slug and Lettuce zines, at least they have genuine interest in the bands and not huge payoffs for running the next "hip" band in their mag.

That just means that you have different taste in music. Doesn't make AMP evil. Besides, have you ever read AMP? They have a lot of big bands, but they cover a TON of smaller bands that are good and should be heard as well. It's funny, bnecause I read all the magazines you mentioned you would rather read, and the only one of these magazines that I have ever seen Henry Fiats Open Sore, the band you say is by far the best part of this compilation, in, is AMP. Maybe you should ease up, and stop trying to asct so cool and "indie".

By the way think of this logically for a moment AMP ran a 7 page article because they have a DVD that's coming out with them on, so of course they are going to hype them now, it's free exposure for the DVD. Idiot.

AMP I don't think is capable of putting together a good compilation of anything. Their music ones were downright awful and this looks to be following in it's footsteps. I would have thought at least ONE person from a music magazine would have good enough tastes to be like "ok guys, these bands suck balls". To their credit there is a couple of bands that are worth mentioning on here, but thats it. - www.robotplague.com

These are cool. I picked up volume one at tower for like five bux. That's pretty cool that they compile all of this stuff. It's a pretty diverse line up, but for five bux, and with it being a DVD, you can just skip around and watch what you want to see...

The Soviettes are the only band on there that I like, but "Tonight" is probably my least favorite song of theirs. It's like they can't just make an album without that one slow song, though LP III comes closest.
