MVD/Cleopatra prepare "God Save The Queen - A Punk Rock Anthology" DVD

MVD has announced the release of God Save The Queen - A Punk Rock Anthology. The 75-minute will include 21 live and studio performances from "old school" punk bands.

Bands featured on the disc include The Stooges, The Dead Boys, The Buzzcocks, Generation X, Germs, Dead Kennedys, Sham 69 and others.

It's worth a laugh, watching a bunch of self righteous 14 year olds who just threw out their blink cds last week trying to be the punk police. For everyone above: Those bands are long gone. Old does not equal good. Most of them have whored themselves out for a few extra dollars. I mean, why else do they even need to be on their hundredth old school punk compilation? We know those songs, they were questionable at best the first time around. Anyone old enough to have heard these things when they were new and exciting already has all these songs. This is just a cash grab for the image conscious hot topic punks. . . . . . . . And theres no ska. wtf.

Um...I haven't been 14 in 22 years. And I think this comp is built for the mall crowd posers as well. The difference is those kids will likely think some of these bands are current (ie new). I've never owned anything by Rancid, Green Day, or Blink. They are not punk. These kids remind me of the hippies in my high school who worshipped Led Zepplin like they were the second coming and as if they were still together. Hell I told one girl Jimmy Hendrix was dead and she actually cried. This was 83. These kids all worship something they'll never understand. Hallowed are the noise makers of today. The people who push the bounderies of what is music. That's what punk was all about. Keeping it fresh. What these kids consider punk is a stale poor imitation. Plain and simple...If you have no idea who these bands are then YOU do not have a clue. All you morons who want to disrespect these GREAT bands really have no place on a punk website. Even if you are into pop-punk, emo, screamo, indie, or whatever the hell else you suburbanites think is "punk" then you need to know who the father of your culture is. Get a clue. I personally cannot wait for this to be released even if it is alot of pre-released material from previous video-comps.
