Deftones to headline Taste of Chaos 2006

The Deftones have been confirmed as headliners for the upcoming 2006 edition of the Taste of Chaos tour. The popular alternative metal act recently released their B-Sides & Rarities DVD+CD compilation which included the band's interpretations of Jawbox, Helmet, The Smiths and Duran Duran as well as various rarities.

The band continues to work on new material for their 2006 full length which is expected in the spring. It will be their first since 2003's Deftones.

The Taste of Chaos tour, organized by Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman will soon complete their first year of shows. The inaugural bill included The Used, My Chemical Romance, Killswitch Engage, and Senses Fail. The European edition of the tour will begin shortly.

never understood what anyone liked about this band. i saw them a couple of times a few years ago and just didn't get it. same with team sleep who i saw over the summer. everyone i work with freaks out of them, and i'm sure they will freak when our date confirms and they see who is headlining

If that's the correct lineup....which this bomb. TOTALLY BOMB. Deftones = Not that big of a draw actually, these days. Thrice= Always on extensive tours atreyu= Isn't that big, they need good support acts for people to come out. funeral= virtually no fanbase. Kevin Lyman is stupid. The only reason why taste of chaos went so good this year is because he took bands that the same crowd goes nuts for, i mean, someone liking my chem means they probably used to like the used alot and listen to senses fail. That, and being "myspace" was in. Watch this bomb. BOMB I TELL YOU!!!! HAHAHAHaHAAHHA!

Damn, I was wanting to look into Rome. For me, nothing beats The Sopranos. I want to look into Deadwood too, that looked pretty sweet. (Sex And The City is a pretty great show if you indulge in how womanly/retarded it is, the writing is fantastic)

I've seen Deftones three times (including once just to see Incubus [yeah yeah] and once just to see Clutch) and I have never been impressed by them. Chino looks lethargic and bored on stage. And there stream of consciousness type of vocals almost never seem to come of right on stage. The only song that they don’t seem to fuck up is “Seven Words”. Lots of people always seem to love this band and I may never get it. -Dante

Chino has commented several times that he doesn't want to do the hardcore vocals anymore. Listen to White Pony, that was primarily the sound he's always wanted.

Hmmm..That saddens me. I mean I love some White Pony songs a hell of a lot. "Digital Bath" is one of my all time favorite songs by them, but I don't know if I approve. Yea its Savory. Its a Deftones/Far collaboration I believe, with Chino and Jonah doing vocals. Its an ok cover, nowhere near as good as the original. For Your Own Special Sweetheart = GOLD.

in high school, my friends listened to these guys at around the same time they were listening to korn, hed (pe), and limp bizkit (before they were huge i guess but it makes no difference), so needless to say, this band always gives me a bad taste in my mouth, and its not dantes jism....

A lot of mainstream bands like tool, old metallica, soundgarden, NIN, smashing pumkpins, and rage against the machine own the shit out of most redundant, unoriginal, and watered down metalcore and hardcore shit these days. The reason why a lot of people like deftones is because they actually make an attempt to progress in their music and experiment with diff styles, from nu-metal to 80s pop. Although they are stuck with the nu-metal label, deftones at least try to transcend beyond their genre. Unlike bands like killswitch or as i lay dying who turned all shit metalcore and emocore, bands like the ones i mentioned dont become more watered down over time.

the deftones headlining the taste of chaos tour may be the best thing to happen next year. even more so if the rumors of atreyu also being on the bill is true. and to everyone who "doesn't get" the deftones, you obviously have very poor musical taste. Because chino has one of the most amazing voices backed by some of the most intense/emotional music ever played. smoke down and listen.

i agree that they can be classified as nu-metal but i dont think of them that way. the way i think about it is that deftones was nu-metal before nu-metal sucked. those bands (deftones, korn, limp bizkit, sevendust, etc etc) all paved the way for the music i listen to now. i just really hope TOC is better this year. i went last year and i wasnt too impressed mainly because of the size of the venue. i dont like big shows like that. too many people and all that surging its too much. ive been hearing a few rumors that as i lay dying will be on the bill. man i hope so.

Its a good change, the whole line-up is better then last year besides the fact that The Used ,MCR, Senses Fail, Kill Switch have to be on it again. (Dont need to see any of them again) Oh and for you kids that are hate The Deftones they are way better then that gay band Ateyu!!!! I was disappointed as they were the headline act and the drawcard for all the 12 year old girls to dress up and scream along with poofy Burt McCracken. Killswitch were sensational as were Story Of The Year, story were great due to their stage presence and they had a real go. Funeral For A Friend were alright and i was shattered that the best band on the tour only got to play 7 songs-RISE AGAINST. Rise Against go off and they have the perfect edge to their music, i hope the tour hits australia again in 2006, but hopefully Deftones will be worth seeing, rather than Burt and his 12 year olds

I highly approve of this!! love the deftones but i do agree about the summer sanitarium tour. i think it's a totally different concert with the deftones in a smaller venue.
