Street Drum Corps, which features Bert McCracken of The Used, Frank Zummo of The Start and others have begun work on a forthcoming full length debut. The band is often described as a "punk rock STOMP", referring to the popular found-percussion-based performers, and released their first official track, a cover of John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" on the recent Taste of Christmas compilation.
According to this story, the album will feature predominately found instruments like garbage cans and satellite dishes, chains and propane tanks. The group also plans to enlist of the aid of friends and hopes to garner contributions from DJ Shadow, Daryl Palumbo and Daron Malakian of System of a Down, among others. The album is expected next year via Warcon and a track can be heard on their myspace page. Warcon Entertainment (47 comments)

I have to say I just listened to Flaco 81 on their myspace page...I liked it better the first time, when it was called The Blue Man Group. C'mon, I get the whole, "We bang buckets and trashcans and walls instead of just drums". Super, congrats, you're a three year old with better timing and reflexes. Do something fucking inovative at least. STOMP was cool because it was an amazing show and a bunch of coreographed pieces. Blue Man group had great pantamime and made totally one of a kind instruaments. This shit is dudes banging drums and pots...Wow! -Dante 3+ Replies
