Springman Records spacebilly pioneers The Phenomenauts have landed themselves an opening spot for Primus frontman and Frog Brigade Commander Les Claypool at The Fillmore in San Francisco for New Year's Eve. The label had an interesting observation regarding the show.

I find this especially interesting since The Phenomenauts used to play illegal "commando" shows right outside The Fillmore when shows were getting out, and would keep playing until threatened with arrest...

Also, the Oakland band is charting unknown territory into the land of children's books. They will appear with Weird Al, Blues Traveler, Hootie And The Blowfish and The Spin Doctors in the book and accompanying CD Dog Train: A Wild Ride on the Rock-and-Roll Side, performing songs by Grammy award winning author Sandra Boynton. The space traveling band will contribute the track "(Don't Give Me That) Broccoli."

The band released Re-Entry last year.
