MGR (Isis) sets release for debut

MGR, the post-rock/post-hardcore side project from Isis guitarist Mike Gallagher, has set a March 7th, 2006 release date for their upcoming debut.

The record, titled Nova Lux, will be released by the Neurosis-run Neurot Recordings. Some material from the album can be found on the band's myspace page.

if this resembles anything put out by isis, i'll be enjoying it. i don't know though, when i think of post-hardcore i think of at the drive-in. maybe some of you could educate me if i'm wrong?

oh yeah man. it's a wierd story. i never really saw them live or anything, but i was about fifteen and i was just getting into punk rock (i'm twenty now) and i checked out interpunk's local music for ohio because i'm a resident and i noticed the band, heard some stuff, and i ordered some stuff and i really, really liked them, i still like em. so at the time i made the name EastArcadia85 on everything, and i still use it. and you're the first one to bring it up. so now i'm twenty. the end. you into em? i'm also a big fan of the lawrence arms/broadways who produced some of their stuff.

I think the word "post-hardcore" gets misused a lot, so even if you knew the definition, you'd just be able to realize that people are butchering the term. But I just associate anything Dischord put out after 1984 as post-hardcore, and anything that sounds like that.

ah yes, i'm a fan of that sort of post-hardcore as well; i just never put a title onto it. i'm just going to bet this project wouldn't resemble that sort though.

if this is what music is going to sound like after rock (ie. post rock), then i hope i don't make it. boring...yawn
