January 15, 2006
by Sunday Edition

It's Sunday January 15th, 2006. I did a bit of research and found that the first Punknews occurrence of the ever infamous "sandwich comment" was in our 2002 announcement of Fenix TX's breakup. Now I'm not taking credit for starting that little gem, as I'm not that clever and I assume I stole it from Buddyhead's then hopping gossip column, but it's somehow comforting that four years later it's still used proudly by our readers. It brings a tear to my eye.

Stories you were talking about this week

Fat Wreck claimed both top spots this week with stories on their new signing Dead To Me and the upcoming NOFX EP Never Trust a Hippy. As usual, the Warped tour got a ton of attention with new band announcements (the Bouncing Souls, Armor For Sleep and Billy Talent if you were wondering). Mest broke up. `Nuff said. Upcoming records from AFI, Streetlight Manifesto, the Lawrence Arms and Anti-Flag all had their fair share of attention, both positive and negative. Strangely, an account that Ian MacKaye was speaking at Yale received quite a reaction as well.

This week we spoke with two bands who rocked your 2005, so check out our chats with A Wilhelm Scream and With Honor.
