I'm aware Tim has been in a rehab state for sometime now and despite the jokes I know he's more likely than not still clean. Fact is I was simply never too partial to this band and I see their end as a chance for two of the three members to fade off into the dark realms of the punk rock joke library. And while I'm not a big fan of Tim's work I still hold more respect for him than the other two. *stops from making stupid rant* Bottom line, not shit talking, just making a joke. I'm not a huge fan of Tim Armstrong, and while he may have shot his vocal chords, it doesn't mean that he can sing good. It's kind of like how you can be in the special olympics, but still not be fast by normal standards. But since Rancid is a pretty good band, and I LOVE Operation Ivy, I respect him much more than the others, especially Travis friggin Barker. Anyone who quits the Aquabats for Blink 182 should be shot (and I don't care if he is an amazing drummer, that's a BIG no no in my book).

really? they released their last one in early 05 i think, because i was at the cd release show in W-B i just saw them a few months ago i wouldn't get my hopes up the new stuff sounded like bluegrass/square dance music... i was standing there wondering what the fuck happened... they have a different genre and look with every release though, so no big suprise i geuss... first show i saw them play (prior to hate to be loved, fall 04) was amazing... they played for about an hour with a ton of older stuff, and it almost all kicked ass... they thier cd release show all they played old was Small Town Pride and Daddy was a Drunk... last time i saw them they only played small town pride as far as old stuff goes

The Transplants sounded very similar to a lot of my favourite hip hop artists... if the songs had positive messages to them, they would get a lot more respect and credibility. Both albums got good reviews for what they were by Rollingstone, etc, but both could've been critically acclaimed if they had inspiration behind them. The same shit was being said when The Clash released Sardinista!

i like the first album, cause the lyrics weren't that bad. i can't even listen to the 2nd album, there was too much fake-gangsta shit

True story I was listening to the radio last night (bad move) and they played "Dance Dance" by FOB. It's catchy, I'd never buy it but it's the kind of thing I wouldn't turn off unless I a good disk qued up in my CD player (my girlfriends car and she did not). So the DJ get's on and talks about how Fallout Boy are good but they really are only filling in the shoes of pop punkers who came before them. i'm near los angeles and we get a station called indie 103. they play a lot of punk related shit.. i remember once they played gbh, circle jerks, descendents, stiff little fingers, misfits, sex pistols, and tsol within a span of 30 minutes. it was awesome to say the least. also they have dickie barret of the bosstones hosting the morning show and steve jones hosting afternoons.

Funny you say that (actual true story): My grandma died about two years ago of lung cancer. It was a hard time and the stress sent my grandfather into siezures (sp?). Anyhow, since then he's met one of his old friends from school (you know the one they taught them to fight saber tooth tigers at) and he and her started hanging out. Now my grandpa and her are like totally madly in love and doing shit he and my grandma never did. She lives a few hours away so he's always over there spending the weekend with her and shit. Their second self-titled is awful. And Out Come The Wolves was awesome, and Life Won't Wait had some bad spots, but the experimentation and different styles were awesome. The second self-titled screamed "Crap! We turned off a lot of fans with Life Won't Wait. Let's put out a harder, more punk album that everyone will like." And the production was crap, especially for Mr. Brett. I bought it the day it came out and sold it within the week. Uninspired.

Since Lars and the Bastards are a side project more than the Transplants were, I don't think they're going to break up. Probably they'll just go on hiatus until a future break in Rancid's touring/recording. The side project that really needs to get going is Matt's- Devil's Brigade!

the music wasn't that good and basically fit in the standard realm of rap samples. andre 3000's love below was worlds better than the transplants and way more musical and musically adept in nature than transplants. as far as rancid or lars and the bastards.....lars and the bastards is fun music and the lyrics don't phase me, i like the mentors, dwarves, and meatmen...the lyrics are really tame in comparrison. just kinda trite at times(yes, even compared to the meatmen). i really hope rancid doesn't reunite, they're done being creative and they're just doing whatever the fans want and whatever to make money. life won't wait was their last true album. the shit afterwards was just looking to get back fans and make money.

I KNOW you're kidding, because when I saw them in San Francisco and they asked, "so who here has heard of a band called the Clash" and less than half the crowd even made a noise i realized that that was pretty much the lamest crowd in the world. Honestly now.

Those commercials have probably gotten more airplay than almost any song in the last few years. They've been airing for nearly three years on a fairly consistent basis. Even the most succesful songs will have no more than six months of costant airplay.
