Hawthorne Heights vocalist JT Woodruff's Carbon Copy Media has signed two new bands. Woodruff enlisted the aid of Mark Daily who ran Confined Records and released material by JT's previous band, A Day in the Life.
The first band is Chico, California's Brighten. The label describes the band as borrowing from both James Taylor and Jimmy Eat World. After the band wraps up on their ongoing tour in May, they will begin recording their debut for the label. Some material from their 2005 release, Ready When You Are can be found on their myspace page. The second is Ivory which is likened to both Coldplay and U2 and play piano-driven rock. Some music can be streamed from their myspace page. The label has distribution through Victory along with an upstream pact which allows Victory to pull successful Carbon Copy acts into Victory's roster. Carbon Copy Media (20 comments)

Come on guys, that douchebag already has more bands signed than PNR. It's about quantity, not quality. 1+ Reply

Brighten kinda sounds like Death Cab For Cutie. Not saying that's a good thing...more borring, lite wuss-rock ready made for the OC soundtrack, that the retarded fans of that show will eat up. Ivory sounds waaaaay more like Jimmy Eat World's than Brighten. And just because you have a piano does not mean you can list Coldplay as a comparable sound. Overall, yet another ready-made OC soundtrack lite wuss-rock band.

What, so this label is similar to how Drive-thru was in relation to MCA? Unlike MCA though, Victory should fucking use the tons of money they've made to BURY these fucking bands and start doing hardcore records again. 1+ Reply

Does the "upstream pact" mean they're stuck with Victory once they're contract runs out with Carbon Copy? Because I always hear about bands that sign to Victory have to stay on Victory (at least as of late). Crazy contract stuff...etc.

it's funny that the bands on carbon copy don't sound anything like HH. if people can look past the effing stigma maybe they might find something on this label they can enjoy. a lot of it is true underground bands who've finally been recognized by someone who isn't too arrogant to give them a chance. 1+ Reply
