Ben Weasel enlists All American Rejects guitarist for production on upcoming solo effort

In a recent post at Weasel Manor, Ben Weasel revealed that he'll be receiving production help on his next solo album from Mike Kennerty, guitarist of the All American Rejects. Their are no definite plans for the album however, with Ben looking to record it "whenever I can manage to find somebody to fund it."

Screeching Weasel had a big year in 2005, having their albums reissued by Asian Man Records and Fat Wreck releasing Weaselmania, a "best of" compilation.

I don't know much about all american rejects, but i do know that 3 years ago, a few people here were talking about this guy, and the fact that he's just a hired gun. And if my memory isn't slacking off on me, he has also has 3 propagandhi tattoos.

And These Enzymes aren't bad.

You're not the only one. Most people love Screeching Weasel (at least their earlier material). I, for one, love all Screeching Weasel albums, they're my favorite band. I also liked his solo album, just not as much as Screeching Weasel material. I am really anxious to hear the new album. Ben Weasel is a very polarizing figure who you either love or hate. Personally, I think he's great and like both of his books.

Actually, I'm the Weasel hater guy -- not whoever poosted before.

I'm sure Ben will twist this around where his alliance with that turd from All-American Rejects is some kind of act of defiance. You see, NOBODY tells Ben Weasel, the arbiter of punk, who he can and cannot associate with.

Why is anyone surprised by this. Ben Weasel loves ass-kissing toadies, e.g. Mass Giorgini, the Teen Idols, and Joe Queer.

Actually, it looks like Ben is doing what Joe Queer did earlier. Ben is latching on to the "new, hot punk guy," just like Joe did with Ben in the early 1990s.

You know, I bet it's total torture being Ben Weasel. Therefore, I wish him a long life.

this mike guy has a weasel tattoo. he obvioulsy wont fuck up this shit production wise. i would be alittle more concerned if the guy that was producing the album was a guy who produced the all american rejects, rather than playing in them. i cant wait to hear this stuff, but i do hope its different than "emo" and "fidativi".

the rest of all american rejects music taste ain't so good but Mike's previous punk band and side project These Enzymes rock the shit out of you. You wouldn't believe it's the same guy! I'm quite happy for him being that he's a big fan of Ben. Did y'all read the article in AP? Mike interviewed Ben and he had the best questions, he knew his stuff.
I don't think Ben is being a sell-out. He just decided to give a really big fan a really great opportunity.

Why is everybody so upset by this? Ben Weasel likes pop music-AMR are a decent pop band.

You know, just because somebody is on MTV doesn't mean that they're terrible. I can see the confusion though, since it's rare that a decent band is ever on the channel. But I bet that almost all of you who say that this idea sucks have never even listened to anything more than Dirty Little Secret and Swing Swing.

i say, thumbs up for Ben Weasel, maybe people will buy his album. That would be nice.
