JR Ewing set to release "Maelstrom"

Oslo,Norway-based frenzied post-hardcore act JR Ewing is set to release Malestrom on July 25th. The album is the band's first since 2003's Ride Paranoia which was released on GSL in Europe. The band is often compared to Drive Like Jehu, Antioch Arrow, The Who and Shellac.

fUCK THESE GUYS.

I paid waaay too much (80$) to see them with coheed & cambria (who i don't like), they only played new songs, and said songs were absolutley horrible, with sung alt rock choruses and a few "moshable breakdowns".

Used to be one of my absolute favorites though, but the new material can in no way be compared to drive like jehu, antioch arrow, the who and shellac.

I went to see these dudes a few months ago. I was so stoked to go see them after missing them twice, as "Ride Paranoia" is just a fucking great lp. So what do they do? New shit. and it sucked balls. i went quadra-spazz.

This album is amazing...really fucking good. They have taken away most of their screamo sound now and they come of more first wave emo, with the occasional forays into their older stuff. This is on a major label in their home country...so basically add that to the short list of good bands on a major, Husker Du, Jawbreaker and JR ewing. Heh.

this album is just now coming out in the US? i've had it since like... august of last year or so... maybe even earlier. definitely not as good as ride paranoia, that album was nearly perfect. but this isn't all that bad, just doesn't keep my attention for too long.
