The Explosion set to record with Tim O'Heir

The Explosion has announced plans to enter the studio on May 8th to begin work on the follow up to 2004's Black Tape.

The band will be recording with producer Tim O'Heir (Samiam, All-American Rejects, Dinosaur Jr., Say Anything) in Brooklyn, New York.

i saw these guys with RFTC and international noise and was impressed. everytime i've seen them since i've been very underwelmed though

Wow, that was a while ago--I'd almost forgotten I saw the same thing. Must've been 2001 or 2002, right?

Anyway, yes, good show. I've seen The Explosion once more since then and thought they were pretty damn good.

But to each his own.

samiam, all american rejects eh? another glossy album i guess.

the last one, aside from a few tracks, was pretty disappointing. "Grace" was a classic though. maybe they'll turn into another D Generation-ish kinda band, mixing the glam rock with street punk.

because it seems to be working so well for river city rebels? d generation pulled it off because no one was doing it on a major level at the time. the bands doing it now, save for the toilet boys can't pull it off nearly as well

Tim O'Heir's recording of Say Anything isn't that glossy.. I think it's going to be "dirtier" than some people are going to think.

Samiam's recordings were far from glossy. AAR was also, not a superpolished record.

flash x 3 was such an amazing record, but their major label debut sucked so many ways from sunday that i dont even care anymore.

Them + Throw Rag, at Kathedral on a Monday night for $10 to 20 some odd people was one of the best shows I've been to. They really gave such a shitty crowd their all and bands that do that get my respect. Black Tape was pretty decent hopefully this one has a little more edge to it.

Word. I saw that tour and there were maybe 100 people at the Chicago show. Coldplay was playing at the Metro the same night so all of the fake "cool" people who were into them just never showed up so everyone left was a real fan. It was super awesome.

E.X.P.L.O.S.I.O.N. is such a great song. I think it might be my favorite of theirs just because it's so damn cheesy and simple.
