Explode and Make Up (88 Fingers Louie, Methadones, Bomb) recording debut

Some news has surfaced from Explode and Make Up, a new band featuring Denis Buckley formerly of 88 Fingers Louie, the Story So Far & Undercast as well as Jeff Dean of the Bomb & Four Star Alarm, Pete Mittler of the Bomb and the Methadones and Tim Den from the Boston band Kimone.

The band is currently in Detroit at Ringside Studios with Royce Nunley recording debut 7-inch. The band takes their name from Bob Mould's Sugar, and plays "hardcore punk tunes."

i was going to ask the same question. while i love 88fl, ive never really known the names of who does what in any bands i listen to.
that being said, when they do tour, i hope like hell they come to denver.

when people say lawrence arms is the epitome of chicago punk rock, my reply is "you mustve never listened to 88fl, nancypants."

There was far less universal praise for Oh! Calcutta!, an album which is basically a traditional Chicago punk rock album (short, fast, loud)
not exactly the same wording, and im not trying to shit on you, so lets not fight. ive just never found larry arms to be all that fast. or loud, for that matter.

Ha ha!! I still love RA, but that totally killed my perception of the band, or at least Tim. Soon after that happened, I considered growing my hair out, attending one of their shows and attempting to meet tim and ask him if I was still allowed to like the band.

is that seriously why dan left the band? i wondered for a while but he seems to bounce from one band to another and rise against never seemed to keep a guitar player for more than one or two tours for a while there so i figured it was just the way the band was and that dan is

I've never been a member of Rise Against, so I can't say for sure, but that was dan's side of the story as posted on this site:

thats craziness. i think i only got to see them once or twice with dan in the band and if i remember right they changed after that mess. they would tailor their set lists to the style of who they were opening for ie more pop songs if they were opening for the mad caddies, more fast hard songs if they were opening for the business or agnostic front (though the front canceled and they ended up just playing with the casualties)

Good fucking god it's been forever. Didn't he have a new band years ago? I'm not sure how old Story So Far and Undercast are, but I could have sworn that Explode and Make Up formed about 3 years ago and had demos that I listened to. Maybe I'm just crazy. Anyway. I love 88 Fingers and I'll probably like this.

about 3 years ago Denis was in a band called Undercast, they never got beyond a demo(that is quite good if you like mid-paced emo).

THAT was the band then. I definitely remember it because I thought it was pretty good for what it was.

royce does some amazing work as a sound engineer. as for blueprint... well royce is a great guy....

his voice sounds pretty rough hear, and it doesn't really seam to resemble how he sounded in 88FL. And the drummer sucks.

they are demos on their myspace page are from not long after they started. the drummer was just a guitar player playing drums, he's a LOT better now.

that guy, John Carroll, is still around Chicago, he filled in for Bob from the Bollweevils new band Sleepwalker Defense once. email me and I'll find out for you. I don't think he's in a band right now.
