Tours: Foo Fighters acoustic tour with Pat Smear, Frank Black

This summer the Foo Fighters will hit the road for a handful of acoustic shows in the US. The band will be playing songs from the second disc of their latest double album In Your Honor.The band will be joined by a number of additional players for the shows, including Germs member and former Foo Fighter Pat Smear on guitar. The band will also be accompanied by violinist Petra Haden, Rami Jaffee on keys, and percussionist Drew Hester.

The three July dates will be opened by surfer Timmy Curran and his band. Pixies frontman Frank Black will open the four August shows.

That's cool, though I would honestly rather see Frank Black. It's nice that The Foo Fighters are actually setting up dates to play their acoustic tracks. Too often stuff like that is left to album only format and they're only done a couple of times live (and ussually pretty poorly). It's nice that these songs are given a chance to really shine live.

it's been a long time since i've followed the surfing world. but timmy curran is a musician now? and a prominent one to be opening for the Foos and Frank Black?

To clarify, he is only opening on the July dates. So he's sort of an equal to Black who is opening on the August dates. I don't think they play any of the same shows.

pat smear was never officially in Nirvana, he was a touring member and played guitar on some of the tracks on in utero, but he was never at the same level as kurt, krist and dave.
