Helmet set to release "Monochrome"

Helmet has announced the details of their upcoming debut for Warcon Enterprises. The band will be releasing Monochrome on July 18th. For the record, the band enlisted Strap It On and Meantime collaborator Wharton Tiers to co-produce and return to the organic sound the band is known for.

The album is the first since 2004's Size Matters.

The long-running band will also be taking one of the headlining spots on this year's Warped Tour.

warped has destroyed the good old days of solid bands on good packaged summer tours in decently sized/sounding venues. bands have no choice but to bend to the demographic of warped if they want their new record (released between jan-dec of the current year) to have a shot at selling. sure there are +'s to warped - discovering new bands, many bands for one ticket price etc. etc. but at what cost? where would you rather see your favorite bands - outside in a parking lot with shit sound or in a decent sized venue.

Yes, Warped, Ozzfest and whatnot have really destroyed the summer touring market for smaller bands. it's very difficult to tour around these tours. Even smaller tours have become bigger "package" tours, generally not having locals on the bill, which has in turn, hurt local/regional touring bands.

fuck off! helmet are still fucking classic - size matters was an awesome album better than aftertaste and that was with the original lineup, but anyway page is still there and thats all that matters really i dont see where you come off saying there shit now just because they have a different lineup their songs are still good and i think a change in sound is good coz if bands made the exact same album everytime it would just get boring.

I gotta agree it's a little weird to see these guys on Warped tour. They're gonna confuse the shit out of all the kids in girl jeans and slip ons.
