AFI hosting MTV2's "T-Minus Rock" next week

Next week AFI will be hosting MTV2's "T-Minus Rock" program for four nights. The band will host from Tuesday May 30th until Friday June 2nd. Check your local listings for details.

The band is of course appearing in support of their upcoming record Decemberunderground, due on June 6th.

in fact, the new albums is the biggest pile of aural shit you could hear this year. as the person below said, its horrendous. there is nothing good about it in my opinion.

If you are a fan of Depeche Mode, Joy Division, or The Cure, then you will love this album. If you are looking for Sing The Sorrow part 2 or anything that resembles old AFI then you will be a little dissapointed

joy division is the one most horribly depressing and boring bands i've ever listened to.

my sister-in-law bought be Unknown Pleasures back in 98 or 99 because she wanted to show me that their was other punk outhere besides fucking nofx, bad religion and the ramones. and that shit was just fucking boring. their biggest accomplishment was Ian Curtis killing himself. at least teh cure could write a great pop song.

I hear a lot of Cure and maybe some of that new-wave/goth stuff like New Order/Joy Division too.

I actually like it quite a bit, though it's not even close to anything they've done before and it's going to shock a lot of people.

Im a fan of the new album and I agree alot of Morrissey and Cure mixed in there.

I think it will shock people the first few spins. I like it but I'm a sucker for AFI.

Seconded. Or thirded if you count Aubin's original comment, I guess. I'm a fan of the album, even though it took about 3 or 4 listens of the entire album to get me hooked. My version of it sucks though, I'm likely going to be with all the fanboys/girls on the 6th to pick up my copy of the album. But same as above, I'm a sucker for AFI - always have been and probably always will be.

its not because it sounds different that i dont like it. it just sounds heartless to me. im not saying they didnt put their hearts into it, but it just lacks the energy and passion that afi is capable of creating. it feels to me like it has no sincere substance. it feels like a cheap, shallow product or something.

it seems to me, that they channel the worst parts of the cure and morrissey. the cure had a lot of really awesome songs, but they had some pretty lame songs as well. i think the album kinda flounders around like the songs that everybody skips on "kiss me, kiss me, kiss me".

is the only version available the shitty, unmastered version? i wasnt gonna download this but people are making it out to be the next "In with the Out Crowd". i'm not gonna waste my money on something i will never listen to again even if it is AFI.

A better version has leaked but doesn't make the album any better.

I'm all for experimenting but it's just not my thing. I think it will make them even more popular but it's not the AFI I grew to love. Summer Shudder is a cool song though.

As for the new Less Than Jake, that album IS horrendous.For a band to say their previous album sucked and then release an enormous turd for a new album speaks volumes.

Less Than Jake need to take a "indefinite hiatus".

Hard, if not impossible for me to answer that; they changed so drastically. There is the horror-obsessed Ramones-core early period, and the thrash/hardcore of their last few records.

Everyone should just buy the coffin box set.

come on though, everyone knew AFI was going to do this. After sign the sorrow it was easy to tell they were going to sell out and go emo/pop/shit style, but none of that could prepare me for how amazingly bad this whole cd with the exception of maybe 1 song. I swear to god i thought i was listening to the breakfast club soundtrack for half the cd. Fuck AFI

how do you pick a favorite bad religion song? it would be between 'anaesthesia, i want to conquer the world, don't prey on me, fuck too many...

best bad religion solo is definitely the solo in 'faith alone' though. that song builds up to it perfectly and it is truly beutiful.

People talk about how bad decemberunderground is but nothing can prepare you for how bad it acutally is I couldn't even listen to it all the way through, and for some reason I tried twice.

Agreed. The only fun part of listening to it today, was making my brother hear Miss Murder for the first time.

I also told him that as bad as he thinks it will be, his expectations will be shattered. It is that bad.

I described it to him as a mix between Fall out Boy and Depeche Mode. Amirite?

I refuse to even try this CD based on the crap that is Sing the Sorrow (other than that sweet buttrock guitar solo in the latter part of the CD). They peaked with Black Sails, in my opinion.

Davey Havok looks really stupid now. Wow. just a few steps from Marilyn Manson. I hate what AFI has become. Miss Murder gets stuck in my head in it makes me mad...just the chorus over and over.
