Dillinger Four to deliver "The Civil War" on Halloween

Dillinger Four have announced plans to release their long anticipated new album, The Civil War on Halloween of this year.

The long-running band released their last studio album, Situationist Comedy in 2002, and have also issued First Avenue Live since then.

You're half correct; Halloween has to fall on a Tuesday for it to be a 'street date'. So technically, you can't put out records every year on Halloween.

But I maintain that 6/6/06 is cooler. It comes around once a century.

I'm also from the camp that prefers the greatest story ever told over oh! calcutta. It was such a dissapointment for me to hear an album that was all fast punk with lots of whoas. Even the fast songs like "on with the show" and "march of the elephants" showed more melody than anything on oh! calcutta. Where's all the emo/indie/folk stylings? That's what made them original...

"Midwestern Songs of the Americas" is their best album...I can't think of any songs to start off with off the top of my head, but "Honey, I Shit The Hot Tub" is a good one. So is "Let Them Eat Thomas Paine"

I don't quite understand the love of Dillinger four, I can't get into them at all. I understand the love for Lawrence arms, Bouncing souls ect...but D4 is just a wall of overbearing guitars and most of their songs are completley forgetable. I've tried many times to like them but I just can't, can I get a recomendation of their best work?

it takes a little work to get into most of the songs, as they're not readily catchy, but once you 'get it', you'll love it.

All their albums are pretty similar. I've read an interview before where they said that they don't see a point in changing their sound much, if you want to hear something different, just listen to a different band.

My personal favorite is probably "Situationist Comedy," though they are all pretty damn great.

i agree with that. what that other guy doesnt realize is that bad religion created the modern punk sound. and no control and against the grain are two of the best punk albums ever released. i doubt he owns either of them...

that said, i enjoy NOFX more.
