More new music, artwork from the Rx Bandits

Rx Bandits have posted another song from their upcoming album, ...And The Battle Begun. The album will be released on frontman Matt Embree's MDB Records on October 10th. Though the retail date is in October, the band is promising to have advance copies tentatively by June 25th for their headlining tour.

The album follows the band's 2003 release The Resignation and their Live: Vol. 1 DVD in 2004.

You can check out two songs "In Her Drawer" on their purevolume page.

The band has also posted the cover art for the effort.

Silence for months and then three songs in a week; I'm not complaining, mind you.

Based on these three tracks alone, this album is already jumping to the front of my anticipated releases list.

I guess until it had a release date and the label situation was worked out, it just seemed to exist in some distant future; with the label and release date worked out, it seems real. Weird, I know.

RxBandits are one of maybe 2 or 3 ska bands that managed to not annoy the shit out of me.

RXB aren't really even that ska anymore. They've turned into more of a rock band with horns.

That artwork looks like it's done by the same guy who does Desa's artwork (I think it's Aaron, who is in Desa as well). I'm quite stoked for this, even as I'm not a strong RX Bandits fan.
And I believe MDB records also has Desa in its dugout, which makes them one of my favorite labels ever.

yeah, thats Aaron Nagel, he did the art on rxb's Resignation, and maybe even the dvd.

hes close to the band and does alot of their tshirts.

i went to one show in santa barbara, it was kind of a festival, and while rxb played Nagel was doing paintings and stuff (at least i am 90% sure it was nagel, but i am 100% sure about the other stuff)

This is the only band I can think of who gave up their 3rd wave ska sound and actually got way better. Progress and Resignation are both incredible albums, and this upcoming album sounds like it's going to kick all kinds of ass.

they sound like a mix of resignation and tiger in the duke. (in her drawer and crushing destroyer) although you can definetly hear the police in only for the night and in her drawer as well
its an awesome sound, and the drums are very impressive as always

It says on their Purevolume that they'll be releasing a song a week until the album comes out, and it's not like you're not gonna be able to find it online after they start selling them in a few weeks.

They were on Drive-Thru, either their contract was up after The Resignation, or they bought their way out of it. This is what Choi said about it on their blog:

"As many of you may know we’re releasing the album on MDB records as we have parted ways with what will now be forever referred to as “our previous label” (I know I know, please just be good sports like we’re trying to be) big change is always exciting isn’t it? So that’s that."

You're 100% full of shit on your "hiatus" forecast, they seem happy to be unsigned, this isn't a sign of a band on their way downhill. But good job on spreading rumors anonymously on a message board!

"Rx Bandits have been on our label for the longest of any current Drive-Thru band. Contractually, they only had one CD left and it has been mututally decided that they will release that CD on their own. We wish them the best of luck in the future. They are an amazingly talented, hardworking band and deserve any success that continues to come their way. And if you haven't seen them live, you are truly missing out!"

i have never listened to this band until this news post, because i usually write ska bands off as being sucky because there isnt much ska i like, but these guys are amazing. really innovative and well put together, while at the same time not annoying and incessantly poppy like a lot of ska can be. what's a good album to start wtih?

either Progress or The Resignation. This new album seems to sound a lot more like The Resignation, but Progress is excellent as well. Any earlier releases and you're looking at a very typical 3rd wave ska band.

I just ordered the RXB DVD and Apotheke off of mash down's site, can anyone tell me how long it'll take to arrive if I live on Vancouver Island BC? The site seems to have little information.
