Media: RX Bandits post new track

Rx Bandits have posted a new track "1980" from the band's forthcoming release ...And the Battle Begun on their MySpace. The page also features two other tracks from the album, "Only For the Night" and "In Her Drawer."

The band recently relaunched their website, began a tour journal and started preorders for the album.

this album is sooo good.

I would probably rank it right behind The Resignation though, but that album is amazing so it's not a bad thing to be right behind

ive heard four tracks off the new album and its soo amazing. my faith in ska music has been restored thanks to this band. ive heard their previous two albums are good also. should i check them out if i like this new stuff?

If you like their more technical prog stuff, get The Resignation. If you like the reggae stuff, Progress has a bit more.

Honestly, there is not one bad song in their last three albums (and that is including this one). Great stuff.

they are NOT SKA!!! they are more like progressive, math rock with horns. They should tour with bands like Mars Volta! The first two albums the band made was when they were 15 years old then 17 years old which is now ten years ago and they do not in any way reflect what this band does now. They have been one of the most underated bands for too long simply because no one would even try listening because of either assuming they were still some ska band or because they were on Drive Thru - well now they are neither of those things so it is time...

rx bandits are simply awesome.. I hope that the old assumptions and preceptions die out about this band. It will be a shame if ignorance continues to keep true music lovers from hearing the. Oh and their live show is not to be missed it's like a religious experience. intense.

Yeah, he did....."sweet album".......if you rub a handful of shampoo in your eyes real good then look at the phrase again, it comes off sounding like he said they were ska. Learn Englich for christs sake! !

I was referring to the dude a couple comments above. Anyway, I'm not harshing on anyone, I just get frustrated when people still call them ska and I will remain shocked and bummed until this band gets more attention. they seriously are such amazingly good musicians. The drummer is probably one of the best drummers on the planet right now.

You say it like being ska is a bad thing. Geeze. I call them prog-reggae anyway. Their very first album is pretty stuid, but "Halfway..." has lots of good tunes that shouldn't be overlooked just because everything after is 100x better.

Don't think so, it's probably because LTJ now releases the album on Fueled by Ramen.

There's definitly bad blood.

LTJ took Pezcore from AMR when they had other albums selling really well on bigger labels, and Pezcore was one of the only releases keeping Asian Man alive at that point.

That doesn't mean anything, look at the ska against racism tour (1998), Mike Park set the tour up, both Mike Park and Less Than Jake were on the tour, however , Park used Mu330 as the backing band for all of the B. Lee Band songs!

Yeah, this is a pretty boring album. Not very cohesive or structured at all, and all the songs just go off on tangents.

They got the balance between insanly good music and stucture so right on Resignation, it's a shame they couldn't do it again.

Alright, some of their previous shit I've heard (from their last two records) has been just decent... nothing great, but not bad.

I got the new album a week ago, and it's fucking BORING. It's just not good at all. I actually had to huck it out of my car.

How is this band so popular?

Saw them last night in Cleveland, and while their fanbase is still too fratty for my taste (seriously, people in Abercrombie & Fitch T-shirts?), the band were phenomenal. It's a shame they got robbed of an encore due to the late show having to load in and start (damn you, Don Caballero!).

I was there in Cleveland, too. It's not so much the dress as the attitude of the crowd. Not enough dancing or movement for a band that I would think lent themselves to lots of it.

I really wish there was a more active group of people there, but I couldn't tell if it was the PUNX or the other kids who weren't moving. All I know was that it took until almost the second to last song for there to be anything going on.

There are only two seriously good tracks on this album, and about three others whose successes outweigh the failures. There are so many flashes of genius on this album, but they're thrown at random into wandering, boring, self-indulgent prog-noodling pieces of shit.

Also, what the fuck is up with the Michael-Jackson-style falsetto "HOO!"s scattered through the album? It's fucking pathetic!

I love the Rx Bandits and will always love Progress and Resignation, as well as the early stuff like Those Damn Bandits. But I am SO glad i didn't preorder this album before hearing it. Only For The Night was a decent song, but once I heard the whole album I was just completly turned off.

What happened to the progressive, political band I once knew?

If I took the time to write a review for the album it would probably get a 6.

i just don't understand how you can love Resignation and not this one

this seems like a very logical step from that album

"only for the night" is the weakest track on the new cd

there are some amazing songs on the new, miles ahead of the Resignation

how do so many people think that? did you guys like the resignation right off the bat? i know it took me a few listens to really like it, but once you like the resignation, the battle begun is the perfect step forward. they're still progressive, and somewhat political but thank god they toned that down, this album is spectacular. excellent theory throughout, beautiful 3 part harmony in the vocals, crazy drums the whole time, honestly there isn't anything 'weak' on this album. i could listen to any one instrument the whole cd through and be entertained

I am feeling slightly unimpressed, but the new album has its high points. I am going to see them on Thursday, and I hope to hear a mixture of their previous music and some new material. I still enjoy hearing what they have to say.
