Shai Hulud signs to Metal Blade

On again, off again metalcore/hardcore/you-name-it-core favorites, Shai Hulud have signed to Metal Blade.

Some tour dates were recently announced, taking the band through parts of Europe and the U.S. No official word has been provided on when a new album can be expected, though a new song was posted online back in April.

i guess it was when the big absolutepunk / punknews fight happened that the articles seemed to get more seriously toned? i forget when the site lost the funny, but i remember that deja entendu review sparked some fumes.

1. I am so sick of all these new metalcore bands poping up every 10 seconds.

2. In America, we have American band names. Get used to it.

Hulud is not trendcore, they don't dress like a goth kid who needs a sandwhich. They don't write songs about razor blades and girls with bad hair.

They're a real band. Please don't confuse them with trends.

Shai Hulud has been a band since 1995 and if you know anything about this band, their lyrics, their "image", etc. you'd know it doesn't ahve one thing to do with all the billions of metalcore bands out there anymore. You rarely hear chugga chugga guitars, breakdowns, or excessive double bass drumming, if ever from Shai Hulud. Take the cock outta yer ears!

Hey superdude, you do realize that Shai Hulud are not a metalcore band that. "Pops up every 10 seconds" as they were pretty much one of the metalcore frontrunners when they formed back in the mid nineties.

Didn't see this coming(seeing as I thought they broke up recently) , this is kind of a weird move from my point of view, Shai Hulud are not as solid material wise as they were back then but maybe Metal Blade can pull them out of their slump. I hope all goes well for them.

really i remember 108, Converge, and Deadguy being those "frontrunners". i remember shai hulud just following the trend

Shai Hulud is a follower of strife and most of all integrity...

As Integrity that started the whole Metal-Core thing early in the 90's late 80's

what trend were Shai Hulud following? the only other band from that era that was doing anything as emotional and melodic as Shai Hulud was Strongarm. Shai Hulud were, and still are, a really original sounding band.

while i wouldn't say these guys are unlistenable, i don't get what makes people go nuts. seems pretty mediocre in every way.

and generally i like that sort of thing.

Seems like most people who "generally like this sort of thing" hate them, and people who generally hate this sort of thing love them.

They're one of the few "metalcore" bands that actually sounds like both a metal and hardcore band, and not some shitty metal band that throws in a 'core to sound cool and marketable. The lyrics actually have substance to them too.

Who cares when shai hulud came out? Who cares what trends they followed or started? If you like the band then like the band. Everyone ties styles, trends, and music all together as if its the styles and trends that theyre hearing. So maybe someone should just sit there shut the fuck up and start listening to music.
