Media: Stream Strike Anywhere's “Dead FM”

A full album stream has been launched from Strike Anywhere's forthcoming release Dead FM.

You can check out the stream from Alternative Press.

The band will be kicking off a tour with Ignite, A Global Threat and Modern Life is War on September 1st.

also, i think this may be their best, i was more of an EE fan than CIAS.. they are more of a sing-along passionate band rather than "aggressive" since none of their cds are even that aggressive

i picked up an issue the other day and not only did it look like a pile of vomit, but some of the uh.. choices of bands to cover were...tatecore at best.

Personally the cover choices of cycling through hawthorne heights, underoath,simple plan,from first to last, etc is sickening. There is music beyond mallcore, AP just doesn't know it.

Of course AP knows there's music beyond mallcore you dolt. But based on feedback, the people who actually read the magazine only care marginally.

Well, with such a validated following, choosing more diverse bands to cover wouldn't hurt.

I was really impressed with the DEP article/cover. Other that, I have to agree, its basically the same shit over and over. I mean, D4 has a new record coming, putting them on the cover would make sense, or hell, what about Lifetime? (unless they have already been the cover recently)

Shit, None More Black would have been a great cover story, with an article discussing Jason's notoriaty as KD's frontman to a whole new venture. Kids may not know who these bands are at first, but they know the mag and chances are will still buy it.

i don't know...when i read alt press, i get the feeling that most of these writers actually don't know that much about music at all...when i read some shit, i want to read from the most knowledgable people, from the best

and it's not just from reading one article or one month's magazine...i do read through the magazine whenever there's a new issue and i'm at barnes and noble...but i am just never, ever impressed with any of the content and the writing

Lifetime on the cover, or D4 on the cover wouldn't sell any magazines to new people. AP puts bands like Head Automatica and Underoath on the cover because those are the "it" bands for the moment, thus it may attract someone who hasn't before picked up an issue to get one.

Though, I will give the magazine credit for doing some decent retrospective features more recently (oral history of Lifetime, GB, etc and the 1996 retro). Most of those are good and I will give AP credit for knowing decent music most of the time. It's just a matter of balancing personal taste (good music) with coverage that will sell magazines and ads, thus producing revenue.

Plus, that Tim Kinsella piece in the most recent issue is one of the best things I have seen printed in years. Brilliant.

I think the magazine is solid, but seems to be a bit focused lately on a particular group of bands. Granted they are popular...but it wouldn't hurt to broaden it a bit more.

I'm sure everyone says that, but in the past it felt more open ended as far as music goes.

visually it's incredibly distracting, but keep in mind i have a design background with a concentration in layout. it's just very noisy.

however what i didn't like about the issue was the look back to 96. while a good idea, and i did dig the matt sharp interview and texas is the reason etc... the bands chosen to ask about how they were inspired, well, weren't all that great.

i mean if you're talking about monumental albums, staples of music hsitory (which most of the list was), i would rather hear what decent bands / musicians had to say than a few of the ones i looked through.

also, this has been mentioned many times, but the cover stories and whatnot. i see alternative press as a print version of absolutepunk. and honestly, i know a lot of people who used to really dig the mag just can't respect it anymore.

Pretty good, Instinct is the only song that sticks out to me after a few listens though. I love Strike Anywhere's sound but their songs tend to run together, making it more of a CD that's fun to put on in the background. I'd definitely go see them but probably wouldn't remember many of the words to sing along.

A solid release. Dispite a couple filler tracks (Speak To Our Empty Pockets, Ballad Of Bloody Run) the music is still, by and large, fast (take *that* Rise Against), powerful melodic punk. I find that Strike Anywhere tend to recycle lyrical structures and imagery from moments on E.E. (but I suppose you can't win them all) and by comparison they are still a cut above most other sociopolitically-conscious punk bands out there. This should be the minimum quality that Fat allows on their releases.

(I'm the original poster) I guess so...I actually find that the songs I imagine Strike Anywhere wanted to be the standouts (by the fact that they have much grander arrangements, particularly e.g. gang vocals in the choruses) don't do as much for me, whereas I like the more understated tracks which drive more or less the entire way through (Sedition, Two Thousand Voices, Gunpowder).

I was really dissapointed at first, they have a lot of similar motives, both vocally and guitar wise, that they've had on former albums. I hate the tremolo picking of the guitar coming from the left speaker, it sounds really bad. But, the more I've listened to it, the more I've started to like it. The left speaker guitar is still gay.

Awesome album. Can't wait to see em at the beat kitchen. Ignite too. Global Threat is okay but I only really loved the 2 albums Mark Unseen sang on. "Were all equal in the end!"

I used to love this band...but every album gets worse than the next. This is by far their worst one yet...booooring, the songs all sound basically the same.

Ignite, Good Riddance, Rise Against are still the cream of the crop....
