by ThinMike on 2006-08-29 13:27:00 Pretty good, Instinct is the only song that sticks out to me after a few listens though. I love Strike Anywhere's sound but their songs tend to run together, making it more of a CD that's fun to put on in the background. I'd definitely go see them but probably wouldn't remember many of the words to sing along.

Dispite a couple filler tracks (Speak To Our Empty Pockets, Ballad Of Bloody Run) the music is still, by and large, fast (take *that* Rise Against), powerful melodic punk. I find that Strike Anywhere tend to recycle lyrical structures and imagery from moments on E.E. (but I suppose you can't win them all) and by comparison they are still a cut above most other sociopolitically-conscious punk bands out there. This should be the minimum quality that Fat allows on their releases.

I hate the tremolo picking of the guitar coming from the left speaker, it sounds really bad. But, the more I've listened to it, the more I've started to like it. The left speaker guitar is still gay.

I used to love this band...but every album gets worse than the next. This is by far their worst one yet...booooring, the songs all sound basically the same. |
