Asian Man details first Riverdales reissue

Asian Man Records has announced some more details and a pre-order for the first of their reissues from Riverdales. The band was a short lived post-Screeching Weasel project from Ben Weasel, Danny Panic and Danny Vapid.

This is the re-release of the out of print 1995 full length, Riverdales, originally available on Lookout Records. The album features three previously unreleased tracks "No Sense"? from the Storm the Streets sessions, and live tracks from their tour with Green Day. The reissue includes 24 tracks in total and new artwork.

The record is due out October 10th, 2006 and you can check out one track here: "Back To You."

The Riverdales are excellent but their body of work has nothing on Screeching Weasel's. SW had far more classic songs than the Riverdales but the Riverdales only released 3 really good cds

not as good as Sludgeworth. for all you 'orgers who cream your jeans over jawbreaker, check out sludgeworth. they're good enough that it bummed me out when screeching weasel got back together and effectively ended them.

So when I bought the original version of the album it was autographed by Dan Panic and signed over to his nephew. I believe it said "Riverdale Stomp! Your Confirmation Sponser, Dan Panic." It also came with a receipt from 1996.

Looks like Panic's nephew wasn't a fan of this album.

best song on this album? man its a tough fuckin choice. i think i gotta go with plan 13, but hampton beach gives it a run for its money.

i'm probably gonna re-purchase it along with the Queers Love Songs re-issue today

i remember seeing them on tour with Green Day and then got kicked out of the show for throwing a roll of toilet paper at GD. i was a fan of theirs too. i didn't think it was that big of deal and at 16 years old thought that was "acceptable" behavior for a punk show.

I'm not a fan of reissues, but it looks like they're putting enough new material on the CD to make it worth it. The new Lillingtons CD will be out on the same day. I'm going to overdose on all that pop punk goodness.

Previously unreleased on CD you mean. They were all b-sides to 7 inches.

Not true, two (I'm A Vegetable and No Sense) are b-sides, and two (Two-Headed Girl and I Won't Forget You) are unreleased prior to this re-issue.

This is a poor time to reissue anything Screeching Weasel/Riverdales. It seems like most of the people that used to care about those bands has realized by now that they weren't all that great, or at least I did. I mean, is there really any point in listening to Screeching Weasel when Leatherface is available?

Good on Asian Man for the reissues, but Ben Weasel is one of the most overrated individuals in punk rock (a fact further exemplified by him hanging out with the All-American Rejects).

I'm 23 and have been listening to Screeching Weasel since I was 13. They weren't even one of my favorite bands back then. They since went on to be on my list of top 10 favorite bands. I think that Ben Weasel is not overrated and believe, if anything, he is underrated.I really enjoy his book and articles which were also made into a book.

Boogada, My Brain Hurts, Anthem for a New Tomorrow were all classic albums and Wiggle and Emo are also really good. I even like the Fat releases. I think that Everyone should listen to Screeching Weasel all the time.

Yeah shut the fuck up, you do not impress me. There is nothing wrong with listening to whatever shit you think is great now and still listening to simpler bands like Screeching Weasel. If you really appreciated the impact that music has had on you over the years then you’d see that. If not, you just sound like an asshole discrediting bands that still have a great impact on a whole lot of other people.

I remember discovering this band because "Back to You" was on the soundtrack to Angus which had a new Green Day song and so, naturally, been 12 or 13 had to have it. Does anyone else remember that soundtrack? It was good.

That was one of my favorite sound tracks growing up. I was already listening to most of the bands on the CD, but I thought it was kind of cool seeing bands like Ash and the Riverdales on pretty popular soundtrack. I remember DHC, The Muffs and Weezer were also on that CD. Damn, I'm going to have to dig up that CD and give it a listen now.
