Stubborn Records has re-released founder King Django's Roots and Culture album. Django himself remixed and remastered it, adding three bonus tracks and a couple of dub tracks. The unique sound of the project is attributed to a "definitive mixture of authentic Jamaican ska and reggae with Jewish culture and music." The release will be available at the beginning of November.

If anyone's seeing Deal's Gone Bad on tour, they're touring with some of the Jump Up Records catalog. I bought the rerelease from them on Wednesday night, and it's fantastic. King Django is master.

To clarify the article, the 3 bonus tracks include the dub tracks....like it's 3 bonus tracks altogether. Still, the re-issue is definitely worth it, the sound quality vs. the old one is like night and day. So much better. And the English version of Shtiklah is beautiful. I also heard Roots and Culture 2 might be coming out in early 2007. good action. |
