After reading this I immediately went over to the ticketmaster site to secure my pair of tickets for a show I was totally stoked about. Then I realized they were 66 bucks a piece. I promptly said "Fuck that," and went back to looking at porn.

I hate to say it, but for that price it's a cheap gig in Wrigleyville on NYE. Most bars have a $75-$100 "cover" but those include all the drinks you can handle...

For those bitching about the price: Every year, the Metro does a New Years show, and the price of admission includes an open bar as well as a champagne toast at midnight (if I recall correctly). That's obviously built into the price.

Myself and the ladyfriend are both going to be trying to buy tickets to this come Friday; the only downside is, neither one of us drink, so we're essentially paying 65 bucks each to be surrounded by drunken idiots. However, the Popes and the Trio are totally worth it.

The revived Popes can only draw flies in the midwest. They're just beating the cash cow as long as they can. Here's betting they last another year at most. I don't think any major labels have exactly been pounding down their proverbial door, and all they really care about is money.

All that said, I'm quite surprised the band has had so much staying power in Chicagoland. Anywhere else, it's, "Smoking what?"

They have some good songs, but you can only ride the oldies circuit for so long, even in your hometown. I wish they'd make a new release so people would go ahead and realize that they're a spent force.

I think this would be awesome. Finding a date a month and a half in advance for something sounds like a disaster, though, and none of my retard friends are going to realise how sweet this is. I might just buy some tickets anyway, and talk people into going when it gets a bit closer.
