Green Day working on (lots of) new material

According to the latest issue of NME Magazine, pop-punk superstars Green Day are currently working on new material. The article goes on to state that the band is actually creating three albums worth of material. No other information was provided concerning a possible release date, or if the material will be released together, or separately. We'll keep you updated as further information is available.

The band's last release was 2005's CD/DVD compilation, Bullet in a Bible, and their last new material came from 2004's highly-successful American Idiot.

I hate to disagree with someone whos handle is TrueBeliever but i gotta say you are wrong. Greenday has retooled their sound so much from back in the day that its barely even recognizable as the same band. Its got nothing to do with successfull. Everyone likes bands that are mainstream. Greenday just isnt one of them for alot of people (and is for alot of others like you).

anti flag doesn't do near what green day and other mainstream bands do. Sure they go fight for small individual causes whilest promoting a larger one, but green day shapes its legions of fans to, for instance, hate george bush or something down those lines. Whereas anti-flag can't write a decent song anymore for the life of them.

for the record, i don't think a band making a difference should have anything to do with a personal change in your way of life... go volunteer and set and example for others to follow.

micheal moore may have some points (aside from the edits that make things out of context- i remember the story of that marine in f911 who then made a statement against him), so do 9/11 conspiracy theorists, but in all honesty, what they say doesn't matter. If you're so apt for change go make changes.

What is it about Anti-Flag's songwriting that makes you think they can't write a decent tune? Is it because of their chord progressions, the various modes they play in, their lyrical content, their melodies, choruses, the key they play in...what? Or is it simply just your opinion (which you're entitled to)? You just didn't elaborate. I think that if you are going to make a statement that belittles a band (regardless of which band) the least you could do is explain why you feel this way...otherwise, you're a jackass!

to that my reply is, they used to rock at least musically.... back when they played everything in c# minor... or maybe it was tuned down a half step so d on their instruments... i can't remember. i would say i thoroughly enjoyed a new kind of army and underground network... everything else was blah.

there was a time when i really used to enjoy their lyrics as well. not to sound arrogant, but then i grew up. i read the literature that they recommended and realized that it was all one-sided and wouldn't help anyone create an unbiased picture of the world... rather was just the other side of the coin.

don't try and talk about modes. it's anti-flag. not propagandhi. (see, that was a stab because propagandhi mops the floor with anti-flag's face, and totally based on opinion).

With all seriousness, Teh Revolt's "Lovesong" is one of the greatest songs I have heard all year. I can't get over it. The rest of the album hasn't really managed to grab my attention.

I think you guys are reading too far into this. It seems like a lot of bands start out with a ton of material (less than jake, alkaline trio for example) and than narrow it down to the "good" stuff for the actual album. It Would be interesting to see what they came up with if it were actually 3 albums worth of material, thoughl (maybe a double disc album and an accoustic or something)

Holy fuck im excited. People piss me off, "i hate green day because there 14 year old girls obsess over them" who fucking cares. Thats the equivilent of saying, i hate chedder cheese because thats what most people eat. They make good, no GREAT music. I can honestly say American Idiot is one of the greatest albums of the last ten years. and they aren't ripping off anybands by having 3 records of material:
1 multiple discs are released all the time
2 no ones ripping off any one
and 3 every band starts out with several albums worth of material they eliminate the lesser quality songs/use them as bsides. Our Lady Peace had about 130 songs for their last cd, and its only 12 songs long
