Fat Wreck Chords plans box set for 2007

Fat Wreck Chords plans on releasing a three-disc box set sometime in the new year focusing on bands the label has worked with. While the line-up of of bands contributing has yet to be finalized, it is expected to contain one disc of studio material, one disc of live songs, with the final disc being made up of alternate takes or demos. Expect it in the later half of 2007.

i agree. epitaph have not signed a good band in 5 years. everything they've put out lately has been shit. the last cd containing anything good put out by epitaph was perhaps punk-o-rama 7...and even that had some debatable material. i was a huge fan of every band and everything epitaph for so many years, but now its just a label i avoid. other than their staples such as pennywise, bad religion and pulley, this label is useless.

There is an old very rare demo song on a compilation I have somewhere at home compiled by Rick Agnew if I´m not wrong, it`s from that era and it`s amazing ... would love to hear more Face To Face ...

There's a couple--Who Are You? and Pain (which they kind of converted to "Never Look Down" on Big Choice)--on an old Centipede Records comp.

I want to hear the songs that didn't make "Reactionary." Remember when they let the fans choose which songs went on?

NUFAN release a ton of songs from the Keep Them Confused sessions with the Cake Boy dvd put out by Kung Fu. There was a bonus cd with the first orders that had I believe five unreleased songs. I don't know if it still comes that way or not.

CDs hold 80 minutes, but CDs need to use a little bit of that up just for the whole file stuff of making a CD.

Epoxies? I think Swiggin Utters are the best band on the label, with Epoxies and Good Riddance tied for 2nd. Propagandhi is really good too. So is NOFX.

I disagree. I don't like the new batch of fat bands. As for the old fat bands: NOFX's record was extremely disappointing. And the only other ones that were good or decent were Bad Astronaut and Lagwagon EPs. Lawrence Arms was okay... but I liked them before they got all "punk".

If you're willing to spend a few bucks on a CD instead, I'd highly recommend Rhino Records' "Punk Rock Christmas" from 1995. This is my favorite Christmas album of all time. The Dickies, The Damned, Pansy Division, Ramones, The Frogs, Stiff Little Fingers...it's great.

Boquet of Veal have the best lyric ever on "It's Christmas": "Fuck you stupid homeless guy/You put a damper on my jubilation/My belly's full and I"m really high/Yeah it's a uletide celebration."

Well a label is a business and these seem to be the more successful bands on the label these days. I dont think that an album full of Snuff, Goober Patrol, Guns N Wankers, Tilt and Bracket would sell too well.

I think i know what the writer means by "focusing on bands the label has worked with", but you have to admit, it would be really strange if they released a box set focusing on bands they hadn't worked with. Strange, and probably illegal.
