Green Day/U2, Underoath, Death Cab, Elvis Costello, Mastodon among Grammy nominees

The nominees have been announced for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. Despite not releasing an album this year, and winning a lot of awards last year, Green Day has again been nominated, this time for their collaboration with U2. The track, "The Saints are Coming" was a performance of a track by the Skids with proceeds directed to Katrina relief efforts.

Other nominees include Death Cab for Cutie (Best Long Form Music Video, Best Pop Performance), Underoath and the Killers (Best Short Form Music Video), Mastodon, Slayer and Ministry (Best Metal Performance), The Flaming Lips (Best Rock Instrumental, Best Engineered) and Elvis Costello (Best Pop)

Neil Young's new political album also earned a number of nominations. We mention this because Adam White would be offended if we didn't.

Norma Jean was up for "Best Album Packaging" last year. Which due to being on a Christian label/being a Christian band, people dont mind. You'll never see like Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, Death By Stereo, or whoever you choose up for a Grammy.

Also the Metal catagorys isnt that good. Slayer shouldnt have been nominated, at all. I dont care who they are historically, their new album blew in it;s entirety. I hope Mastodon or Ministry takes that one. Music video, Ok Go better win, if they dont, the Grammy commitee are full of douche bags.

yeah, i'd say that it's definitely good that you're putting your shit out there for others to hear. and forthe genre youre going for (i.e. loud fast distorted mayhem) its not that bad. the vocals kinda got to me towards the end though...and a drummer or drum machine would make it sound killer. just a piece of advice, don't tear into me

that would be sweet if neil young won at least one, he deserves it. but if he did win it would be "controversial" because his latest album was a complete Bush bashing so they probably would avoid giving him the award so people won't think the Grammy's have a liberal bias or hate Bush. they'll play it safe and give the awards to Tom Petty, or The Killers or something.

Converge and The Dillinger Escape Plan are both two of the best bands running today but to imply that Mastodon does not deserve to be commended for Blood Mountain is about as wrong as somehow having Refused sneak into that last post for post about killer bands

no, no by all means share ur opinion if it's something decent like about the war in iraq or the economy or how famines in the third world are being completly ignored by all the major superpowers.
