The nominees have been announced for the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. Despite not releasing an album this year, and winning a lot of awards last year, Green Day has again been nominated, this time for their collaboration with U2. The track, "The Saints are Coming" was a performance of a track by the Skids with proceeds directed to Katrina relief efforts.
Other nominees include Death Cab for Cutie (Best Long Form Music Video, Best Pop Performance), Underoath and the Killers (Best Short Form Music Video), Mastodon, Slayer and Ministry (Best Metal Performance), The Flaming Lips (Best Rock Instrumental, Best Engineered) and Elvis Costello (Best Pop) Neil Young's new political album also earned a number of nominations. We mention this because Adam White would be offended if we didn't. For the full list of nominees, visit this page. News (95 comments)

that's how you officially know the Grammys are a load of horseshit: Underoath was nominated for one. I don't care if it wasn't even for their music, that band fucking blows. 5+ Replies

When they decide on the Metal Nominees, I can't help but picture a bunch of really really old (I'm talking George Burns old!), out-of-touch music executives listening to Slayer.

I think our real concern is how the academy deemed James Blunt worthy of any recognition. Seriously, I hope Mary J. Blige wins it all.
