The Loved Ones lose Spider, plans for '07

The Loved Ones have written in with a year-end update. To end things with a bang, Michael "Spider" Cotterman has abdicated bass duties for the band after two and a half years of filling that role. The band is currently in the process of finding a replacement.

Starting off the year with their Keep Your Heart tour, Dave Walsh of the Explosion will be filling in on second guitar on the East Coast leg of that tour. There's currently no indication of the inclusion of a second guitarist on the other parts of the tour.

The band released Keep Your Heart earlier this year and has been playing a few new songs on tour, presumably from an upcoming sophomore album.

Yeah, Dave playing in Paint it Black, The Curse and working for the Bouncing Souls, Sick of it All, The Explosion, and every other band, Mike being in Trial by Fire, im sure that had nothing to do with it. Kid Dynamite is flat out overrated. Plus the band is awesome. Give it up with the connection shit...

No one cared about the Curse, period. Dude wasn't even a real member of Paint it Black, who are nowhere near as big as Kid Dynamite, who weren't as big as Lifetime. No one cared about Trial By Fire, either.
They got their jade tree deal because of the kid dynamite connection.

i wonder how far this band would have gotten without the help they recieved from so many great current bands. ex-kid dynamite? give me a break, he was not even an original member. maybe people would have fogotten spider was the replacement bassist if he hadn't mentioned it in every interview he ever did. what did this so-called "connection" ever do for the loved ones?

my band played with the loved ones and i'v emet dave on numerous occasions and i can tell you, he is NOT pretentious, he is very genuine and totally an awesome guy. He is one of the most down to earth awesome guys in punk rock today, it sucks to see spider go, again, a really nice guy, but the band will press on!

You either don't play an instrument or haven't listened to their music much. Spider's bass lines are amazingly catchy, fairly intricate and loaded with his personal style. He will be hard to replace. Not as hard to replace as Mike would be, as Mike is one of the best drummers in pop-punk today.

No. The Queers are simple. What makes the Loved Ones great is how precise and personal each instrument's style is. You don't have to be Les Claypool to be irreplaceable.

Yes. Cheap. It's punk rock.

If you already have a component stereo with a receiver it's easy. Just buy a turntable (automatic) from a big name brand like Sony for $75 and plug it in and you're set. I don't know much about standalone record players with built in amps or anything, but don't budget too much for it. If you pay more for your stereo than the band paid to record the music, the money is going to waste.

On DEC 13th, at approx. 6:30 PM
Joseph Bernard Zak passed away at the St. Lukes hospital in his hometown of New York City.
He was 80 years old.

Widely regarded as the oldest punk rocker ever, he often preferred the title:
"Most Prolific Songwriter in the History of the World".

And believe it or not, that statement was most likely not an exaggeration. Zak wrote approximately 30,000 – 40,000 original song lyrics. The exact number may be never known. Even those of us in his punk rock band, TEAM SPIDER lost track after he copyrighted the first 20,000 or so. Collected in his aptly titled "ZAK OPUS". Being Team Spider's vocalist and guitarist, I recently found myself having to haul over 40 boxes of lyrics out of ZAK's old apartment. If asked how many songs were in there, I can only describe the quantity as somewhere

I left the Loved Ones.

Dear friends, I have some sad news. You won't be seeing me on the next Loved Ones tour, I left the band. We were having problems and I felt like some things were unfair for me and Mike. About two weeks ago I told Dave that those things needed to change or I was leaving, and gave him some time to think about it. We talked last night but were unable to reach an agreement. We parted ways with a handshake, so to speak.
I wish the Loved Ones the best and am proud to say that we are still friends. I encourage everyone to check out their upcoming US tour with Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer

You can't just push a bunch of totally unrelated complaints about the music scene into one and make one UltraComplaint. What you said makes no sense. And the only way the bands on Fat now couldn't be considered fast is that they don't play the same drum beat that every old Fat band played in every song. I like those bands, but c'mon. The tempos weren't that fast, the drum beat was just double time.
