I used to work at the 432 in Flint where they play alot. This band is not even worth pooping on.

They used to be good but now they suck.

I saw this band over the weekend. They were fucking awesome.

It's pretty good. Lots of good songs, a couple startlingly bad ones (deadpan face? eck) but all around, what I was expecting. Too bad it leaked so early. Unlike FOB, these guys do need the sales, and unlike FOB, actually deserve it. I'll preorder it when someone starts taking order for it.

do you know why humans started eating flesh? strictly for survival. they hunted what they ate and it was necessary. at this point in human evolution, a carnivorous diet is completely unnecessary. we can get more protein and nutrients as herbivores and also make the earth a happier place. with the demand for your "tastes good" hamburgers and steaks, we are quickly erroding land that could feed the world many times over if used for plant growth. but do to a cow's huge diet, this land becomes unusable for hundreds of years after just one or two years of usage. The human brain has been able to evolve in the manner that it has primarily due to the omnivorous diet of hominids. Without a diet consisting of some animal products, our brain would slowly cease to evolve (see the journal Nature- The Senor believes the first or second volume of 2006- for recent research demonstrating the recent evolution of the human brain and the beneficial effects of meat). im sorry, but animal protein contains the complete amino acid group, including all 9 essential amino acids. all plants, with the except of soy, are incomplete proteins. there are ways to combine plant proteins, for instance rice and beans, to make complete proteins, but overall animal protein is complete, and plant protein is incomplete. i can cite this from a published and widely used nutrition textbook if you want it.

there are clear benefits to a vegetarian diet, but your argument about protein is wrong.

i could be wrong... i haven't really argued about any of this for a few years. i can't remember now, nor do i have time to look it up, but i recall something about certain meats having indigestable parts. maybe its with the chemically altered animals. i've never really been against free-range livestock. but thats not a huge money making industry because it costs more and gives less than the fucked up, chemically altered cash cow(sorry) that is the high quantity producing meat industry. and i was mostly thinking about soy anyways, it's a miracle plant. people can say what they want about soy being gross no matter how it's cooked, but thats bullshit, there's soooo many delicious soy based products, that would be cheaper if they were more widely consumed. and probably cheaper than the meat products people eat now.

My parents had about 10 acres of land, maybe 20 head of cattle and few various other animals. There was no cuelty ever. The way we saw it was that we gave the animals a good home, and then when their had lived a fairly long and productive life, they were butchered for our table. Circle of life.

To me it seems like the preachy vegetarians take the same approach to arguing as the hardcore pro-life camp. Yes, I believe in abortion because it is a woman's body and it is her right to choose, and she ehould have that choice. I do not like the idea of killing babies, but sometimes it is a necessary evil. I also enjoy meat and as I stated above, I try to eat as much family grown vs. industry grown meat as I can. It is however,

i agree. i'm a vegan but i do think that people should be respectful and respected with their eating decisions.

however, as a vegan i do believe that other people need to know why we are vegans and why we choose not to eat meat, because i think we have some pretty valid reasons, where as people who do eat animal just do it because it tastes good.

however i can't stand preachy vegans, and i'm not sure where the line is.

it's not that i don't respect you as a person (i don't even know you), i just don't respect your eating decisions and reserve my right to tell you so. read a singer article and you'll understand the importance. also, if you agree that our environment is in trouble and you're still eating meat, then that's hypocritical. in my opinion there are too many reasons to stop eating meat to be able to respect one's decision to continue eating meat, that doesn't mean that i can't still respect you as a person

i don't feel like writing much so i'll keep it short. waste run-off into water supply. many towns with large amounts of livestock have fucked up drinking water. and it could carry further. another thing would be how the use of a specific piece of land for livestock grazing renders it useless after a short amount of time for, i believe a couple hundred years(im not sure of the exact amount of time and don't feel like looking it up, but it is a loooooong time that that land is unusable for anything). there's more reasons but i already typed way more than i planned on.

farmers in america get paid to not grow crops. (wiki subsidies).
theres this neat thing wherein if too many people grow crops then market values will fall, causing those that have been in the buisness for a while to lose money
then theres also government regulation, etc.

when one has been in the cattle/turkey/etc. industry for years, its hard to just suddenly change.

would i like to eat nothing but the animals i kill? sure. but there are neat things like hunting seasons. and as a felon i cant own a gun.
i guess i could fish. a lot. but much of the freshwater in south louisiana is heavily polluted, so that idea is kind of out the window as well.

yeah. you missed the fact that i'm not vegan, and that i used this article in a paper that i wrote that was put forth to me by my professor (a cell biologist) and the fact that i read it. so, there are countless stories of 4 legged chickens on the internet and in magazines and newsletters. i simply don't feel like searching through countless google articles and linking them so that i can appease a bunch of retards like yourself. nic.

Well i am not a vegeterian/vegan. But i think bigger problem is the little choice we have. You guys are all bashing on anti-flag for stating and standing up for what they believe in. But no one bashes rest of society doing same thing rest of the year really with eating meat. Anti-flag is an little little minority their really. And you bash them. That seems wrong just. Ok. Well I can agree with most of what you've said. I don't know that much about animal testing for medical purposes, but I know there's a high rate of unnecessary, violent testing that shouldn't be taking place.

But I still think PETA is focusing it's efforts in all the wrong places and I don't think they care.
Like I said, they know what's going on in these places and they do nothing about it.

Pictures of vegetarian girls making out isn't the only way to get the point across. Neither is bull-shit like the "sexiest vegetarian" award. There's a kind of continuum of better and worse tools to use, and using things like sex to get their point across borders on being antithetical to their cause.

And yes, I do believe the rap movement should end too. But that's just based more on personal music preferences.

Actually, plants are fed to animals, so eating less meat from farms results in less plants being eaten, in the long run.

A good point though, is that if you follow the philosophical arguments of Peter Singer (animal welfare - animals feel pain, suffer, etc.) or Tom Regan (animals have rights) all the way through, their arguments would suggest that we need to stop the predation that occurs in nature.

i do own arnold's encyclopedia. i have had it for four years. i know what he thinks about meat and i'm not disputing it. i am simply saying that i have weight trained for approximately ten years and i didn't eat meat during any of it. i still train and i'm by no means small or weak. the argument is stupid and i think everyone should do what they want with their diets. nic.

i agree about those comments to an extent. the two diets were not originally meant to be what they are today. it's more about fresh vegetables and fruits. i eat a lot of soy and have been tested regularly for estrogen increase and i have never shown any increase. i'm talking a LOT of soy. so, you can never be completely sure. i say that in this world, everything has gotten pretty nasty when it comes to food. nic.

Food is definitely gotten bad these days. I try to buy exclusively organic and cut down on my meat consumption. When my grandma had a tumor a few years ago the doctor told her to avoid soy products. That's great that you're getting tested for estrogen and it seems like you've actually done research instead of jumping on the bandwagon.
Fermentation will get rid of the estrogen problem, but it also messes up the proteins.
Another good alternative to meat is hemp seed. It's supposedly the most complete protein on earth.

That's fucking bullshit. You will be healthier if you eat a variety of things, including meat. Guess why? Because we have evolved over millions of years to eat a variety of things that includes meat.

NO we haven't. Evolutions is a gradual process that takes dozens of thousands of years to have any noticeable impact on a given species, so NO we haven't evolved in the slightest since food became a reliable commodity in the western world.

what i don't get is why people keep trying to play the health card... shouldn't it only be for moral reasons since we all have the ability to choose how healthy we want to be?

i'll sacrifice a few years of life to enjoy delicious meat, but if i was magically convinced it was wrong to eat meat, then i'd stop.

btw, everyone needs to keep in mind that the truth is subjective. Just cuz some hack writes in his book certain things in certain ways doesn't mean another hack won't write exactly the opposite thing and have it be called truth.

So evolution is a purely physical thing then....? I don't think so.

The point i am trying to make, which you seem to be neglecting, is that we have evolved technologicaly, mentally etc. Modernity allows us to cultivate enough fruit and vegetables all year round to sustain ourselves.

We have evolved in the sense that we no longer have to eat animals. That is what i am trying to say. Why kill and cause suffering when you do not have to?

Since when does being omniverous mean we have to eat everything, you gluttonous fuck?
