The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have again posted another rare/unreleased song on their myspace page. This time they posted the song "So Many Ways" which, like the other songs, can be found on their Myspace page.

The band has been on hiatus since 2003 after the release of 2002's A Jackknife To Swan.

i saw that too. i think at the time they were doing mini hometown throwdowns across the country and i saw them do back to back nights in dc. still one of the best live bands i've ever seen.

if Joe Gittleman is running this page in such an ective manner...then it's obvious it'll happen.

to go from being in a band to starting a family and "getting settled"...it becomes harder to jump back in. All I know is that they WILL get back together. I used to know one of their long-time roadies. He too told me they would.

if they come back I can see Nate being with them, but not Kevin or Dennis. Chris Rhodes had so much heart in the band when he replaced Dennis, and Kevin Lenear lost his mind and moved to Germany.

Watch them come back and abandon the ska-core sound in favor of the more kid friendly "rock band with a brass section" I.E. Less Than Jake and Reel Big Fish.

Great album killed by some extremely questionable production. You can hear greatness in the songs in their live shows and The Skeleton Song demo, but the final mix by Kolderie and Slade was just gross.

Have you ever seen those songs live? The mix held down that album so much. I don't hold that against them in the slightest, they took a lot of risks on that album and some of it worked, some didn't (High School Dance's lyrics). I think the mix on that album was flawed to say the least.

I didn't care for pay attention that much and I love this band more than anybody... And they can for sure come back w/o nate, dennis and kevin. Those guys weren't on Jack Knife and look how amazing that album was. Though it would be nice to see the old school line up....

First off, i love getting to hear all these Bosstones songs/ demos that i haven't heard before, but PLEASE PUT OUT A FUCKIN B-SIDES album!!!

And yeah, all this activity lately might be leading to something. I've heard Joe has left the Street Dogs, Joe G isn't really doing much. Dicky has got to be tired of Kimmel's lame attempt at humour every night.

Oh, and has anyone heard anything about Dicky's solo album? i read an article like a year and a half ago that he was making one, but i've heard nothing since.

the last guitar player for the bosstones was writing it with dicky...that's all i had heard. i heard this like 3 years ago. it was supposed to be more of an 'old school punk rock album."

The only time I saw them live they thought they were rockstars. The only band at the festival to have their own security. Their security were bunch of meatheads who just beat on the kids. Hated the band ever since.

I really doubt this, i can't tell you the number of times i've seen dicky stop the set to get securty guards to chill out and let the kids be. Easily a half dozen at throwdowns alone.

When they were on Warped '02 Dicky was working the merch booth. I talked to him briefly but he was distracted by people buying shit and his "thank you Arizona for beating the Yankees" sign falling down every 15 seconds.

Holy shit, "A Jackknife To A Swan" came out five years ago? Shit.

I remember going to the store that day to buy it. I also remember going to the store on release day for "Pay Attention", "Live From The Middle East", "Let's Face It", and "Question The Answers".

Damn, I'm cool and old school.

I do hope they starting doing shit again (i.e.- live and album).

Philadelphia, PA - FREE SHOW
Outside the art museum, I think right near where Live 8 took place.

Bosstones / The Roots / Others

The Bosstones played a free outdoors set at this show. I believe this was AFTER Pay Attention came out, but not quite Jacknife To A Swan (I could be wrong, though). At one point, a big bean-bag chair was being tossed around the crowd. During one of the songs, the chair was ripped apart, w/ the little white pellets/stuffing flying all over the place. It looked like it was snowing in summer. Of course, comments were made from the 'tones after the song they were doing was over. It was just kind of cool to see.

Not the greatest story, I know, but one little memory I have from just ONE of their great shows.

University Of Pennsylvania

Mighty Mighty Bosstones w/ Run DMC.

Bizarre show to say the least. Went out in the hallway around the auditorium during RunDMC's set and ran into Dicky. Being the star-struck fan that I was at the time, I spoke w/ him for a few moments and asked for an autograph. He had no sharpie on him, but made it a point to find one. He said "Come with me, we'll find one. So we took off walking all over the halls to find someone who had a sharpie. Finally we bumped into Ben who was on the other side of the building, who had one on him. Dicky signed the gear, and continued to talk awhile longer. I'm sure being of any sort of fame has to get annoying as far as people constantly wanting to talk to you, annoyingly at times i'm sure. While I certainly didn't feel I was acting obnoxiously in my request, I really gave

One more note about this show @ the university of penn... I do believe they had a 9th bosstone at the time, and he was a keyboard player. I've been to the throwdown before, and many many other shows, but this show was one of the most unique b/c of the keyboard that was thrown into the songs. It gave the Bosstones sound a very different quality that I wouldn't say was necessarily essential to their songs, but it definetely didn't hurt it either. Very cool sound to that show, especially, from what I remember, the live keyboard-y version of The Skeleton Song.

It amazes me that when there is a Bosstones story on this site, there are so many great fans, and no bullshit that surfaces like when there is a story concerning the most popular presently active bands. For those that say they suck, they truly are morons as the Bosstones are not only great musically but class acts who care about their fans...not like these other fuckin "punk" bands. I really do hope they get back together, and if they hit the West Coast, I will go to as many shows as I can......

It totally sucks i never even got to see the Mighty Mighty Bosstones live and now, it is this "indefinite hiatus" shit- they just got to get back together, do it for the children, heck, do it for me!
The MMBT has to pull a Blues Brothers and put the band back together!
