Adam Pfahler details progress on Jawbreaker documentary

Adam Pfahler of Blackball Records and Jawbreaker has posted a brief update on the documentary about the influential and beloved band.

He had this to say:

I just finished a few more days shooting with Keith and Tim for the Jawbreaker documentary. For those of you who don't know, these are the guys who did the minutemen movie. Blake is next in NYC later this month. This is a huge undertaking - shooting, gathering the archival footage, tracking people down for interviews.

The earliest plans for the film were announced in late 2005. As he mentions in this update, he is working with Keith Schieron, director of 2006's We Jam Econo DVD.

Blake Schwartzenbach has stated that there is little to no chance of a Jawbreaker reunion. He's a professor at NYU, from what I understand, and is currently looking for band members to form a new project. I wouldn't hold my breath for a Jawbreaker/Jets To Brazil tour.

When did he say that though? The members have all made up and no longer hate each other. Though I believe it's an incredibly remote possibility, a Jawbreaker reunion is more possible than, say, a Refused reunion.
Though, I'd settle for a Jets To Brazil reunion. Oh, that'd be awesome. Such a great band as well.

Blake said theres even less chance of a Jets to Brazil reunion. Jawbreaker is my favorite band of all time and I wish a reunion would happen, but it looks less likely all the time. It seems to be that the more bands who get back together the less likely Jawbreaker will jump on that bandwagon.

Please God DON'T let their be a reunion. Some things are best left in the past. This band meant the WORLD to me in the early 90's. I would hate for anything to trample on that legacy.

Where do you get these quotes from Blake? I've never heard of them and would love to read the interview. Also, any idea why a JTB reunion is even less likely?

What kills me is that both bands had songs for their next album written when they broke up.

He mentioned it in a very recent interview in Cometbus by didnt go into too much detail, just that "politics" got in the way. I think it has something to do with Chris Daily being more conservative and Blake being more liberal. He said something to the extent that 9/11 broke up our band.

I bought Dear You a couple weeks back. They're...Good, but I find they're overrated. A lot.

It seems like he wrote a short essay and then tried to jam it into some riffs they make, and they're songs don't have much substance. From start to finish they're all virtually chorded, nothing else.

Maybe I'm just not punk enough.

Dear You was their best. Everyone likes to say 24 Hour was, but Dear You is such an amazing album. People like to write it off, because they want to be cool and not like the fact it is overproduced, but the guitar sound on that album is amazing!

Call it what u want dear you was a great album. Mainstream? if that u mean it was released on a major maybe but the music speaks for it's self. It was however released at a time when green day and rancid began getting attention from the mainstream.

I heard the song "Do you still hate me" on an old skate video four years ago and I was hooked for life.
