The Living End set to record

According to Undercover.com.au, the Living End will begin recording a new album soon. Bassist Scott Owen notes, "we're going to start making a new album at some point this year, so we'll stop and start thinking about that very shortly."

The band released State of Emergency last year through EastWest / Adeline.

It was better than Modern Artillery or whatever, but far worse than all their other LPs. Nevertheless, it was worth the purchase and is a good cd.

i too think it was their worst

people will put down Modern Artillery, and yeah it was very poppy and more straight forward radio rock sounding....but i thought the songs were still very well written and they really pulled off that change in style well

nevertheless, the worst Living End album is still a pretty good album

these boys put on a killer show a few months back with attackinblack, and zox (did a kickass version to pixies 'where is my mind' with awesome fiddle solo)...i can't wait for the new album., they have never let me down, and always put on a great show.

Um, that is not "set to record". If they were "set", they'd already have all the songs ready to go, and would have a studio booked to begin recording this month.

Also, this band, not so great.

If you took 3 songs from each album (except SOE) and put them on one, then you'd have a good album. Good, not great, not bad, just good.

Overrated as fuck. And "State Of Emergency" was incredibly fuckin' lame.

TLE is pretty fucking good, but Chris Cheney needs to bring back the art of the guitar solo. They are much more enjoyable live then on a record.

Hellbound and For your own good had mostly awesome songs

The s/t is one of the best rock albums in history

Roll on, Modern Artillery and State of emergency are each 60% good.

C'mon Living End, let's get back to breaking the 2/3rds album mark.

what are you talking about? state of emergency is totally a trend-hopper. listen to the production adn the guitar sounds riffs.

Um, they have a song on there with ska riffs.

Ska.

And they use an upright bass. Are those trendy these days?

Granted, the production is a little derivative. But their sound is still very much their own.

To me, State of Emergency is their best album. Every song on that album is fucking solid, and some, like Nothing Lasts Forever and Long Live the Weekend, are just amazing.
