Against Me! unveil "New Wave" track listing

The folks at Alternative Press have unveiled the track listing to Against Me!'s upcoming major label debut New Wave. The 10 song Butch Vig recorded album runs just north of half an hour (33:36 if you're looking for specifics). Along with "Borne On The FM Waves," which features Tegan Quin of Tegan & Sara, the album includes a version of "Americans Abroad." A live cut of song appeared on the band's Live in London!!! release last year.

The record will be the band's first for the Warner-affiliated Sire label and will hit stores on July 10th. As previously announced the Florida-based group hits the road in May for a tour with Mastodon and Cursive.

i think the point is that the stage at against me! shows are pretty much surrounded by slutty looking high school girls in red jumpsuit apparitus t-shirts now. i saw them with the gamblers twice, and that's how it was at both shows. it's only going to get worse from here though.

I was at this show too. I'm a girl, but well over teeny bopper status. . . and I stood in the back. I did, however, sing along to all the songs. . . because, pretty much, that's what I do at Against Me! shows.

I was more annoyed with the kid that sat on the floor in between sets and had upside down crosses drawn under his eyes with eyeliner. That kid sucked.

The extra vowels are superfluous. Teddy Roosevelt took most of them out of American English when he was President. So, yes, it was on purpose, but I wouldn't call it a "slaughter." We did what we do with most British things: we stole it and made it better. See: government, music, dentistry...

I met Tom last year when they came out to Australia supporting S.F.A.F.C, i'd have to say Tom's an awesome guy, raging boners are really just to be expected, but apart from that why call him a sellout just cause his life is better then yours and you'd trade in a second....lets think this through people....Oh an when they come back this year they are playing the same run-down club that holds 100 kids for the u18s show....sellouts?...or top guys?

From the songs I've heard, and just the overall position AM!s in right now, I think the best analogy will be Sonic Youth's Goo. You know, where the band gives up all connection to the scene they came out of and put out an album that's a little disappointing after what came before but in the end, still pretty fucking good.
Honestly, even their sounds are starting to sound similar.

There are a lot of bands that could be "the new against me" before Mischief Brew. While quite awesome, Mischief Brew is very dissimilar to Against Me!

As a side note, would I put a period at the end of that second sentence?

I believe so, since Against Me! is a proper noun and the ! is not punctuation for the full sentence.

I don't agree that Mischief Brew are the new Against Me! But I do prefer Mischief Brew over Against Me! I end up having a much better time seeing Mischief Brew play over Against Me! and I really like Mischief Brew songs a lot better than most Against Me! song. How about Mischief Brew and World/Inferno FS playing tomorrow at Zombie Prom at Purchase College. That show is gonna be sick!

Stop that, already! Damnit... "Piss and Vinegar" is a real expression.

This is why I'm sick of so many orgcore bands. Has nothing to do with the music. I just get so sick of hearing about them. Fuck, I wasn't even able to objectively listen to Against Me! until everyone started shouting "$ellou$ LOL" their way.

This rage is uncharacteristic of me. I apologize.

I said: "I just get so sick of hearing about them." It's overkill. I get to the point where I just don't want to hear about them anymore. This is because everyone sounds so obnoxious every time they won't shut about them in irrelevent (read: almost all) threads. For example, do you know how annoying it is to see "Propagandhi > something" in almost every news article here? I get so tired of hearing about them, it ruins the band for me. Although, I never really got into them in the first place, but you see my point.

Now, we're in a thread aobut Against Me, and nobody wants to shut up about Dillinger Four. It's not even the same song title! Annoying...

I've got a shitty live version of that, but I've listened to it near 100 times already. Quickly becoming one of my favorite songs by them.

Seeing the new songs live is a really weird feeling, because it's all kickass and fun as Against Me! always are live, but at the same time you think with real clarity, "outside of this setting this song will be boring as all hell."

Dudes deserve every bit of success they get. I guess this is the typical "against me is always going to be a band that amazes me with every record" post along with the "I would've signed to a major if I was in their position because the shit doesn't last forever and they're the one band who probably got a very fair contract" statement and the "they're really fucking nice guys" filler.

Anyone think New Wave has a chance at landing in the Top 20 albums for that week, like The Shins, Modest Mouse and Arcade Fire have done recently? I kind of doubt it, but I'm interested to see just how big Against Me! actually is.

Reinventing Axl Rose and As the Eternal Cowboy both had eleven songs and were great albums...if New Wave is good, then people won't even think about the number of tracks...Worst song title though: "Yall Dont Wanna Step to Dis." I love that song.
