Be Your Own Pet set to record

After they wrap up their upcoming tour with the Arctic Monkeys, Nashville's Be Your Own Pet will begin work on their next album. The band had this to say:

We've all been writing for the next record. Everything is getting really exciting around here! We go into the studio with Steven Mcdonald (Redd Kross) in June and then we will have the record in your hands in following months. (fall release date!?)

The band released Be Your Own Pet last year on Thurston Moore's Universal-distributed Ecstatic Peace record label. The album made many year end lists including one at Punknews.org.

Do you really think these flash in the pan kids care that it's the guy from Redd Kross? I bet they don't. The fact that Thurston Moore vouches for these guys is a big negative.

They probably don't even know who Redd Kross is. Thurston is a massive record collector (as is Rollins) but usually their taste in current music is quite bizarre. I still don't have an opinion on Be Your Own Pet, I have to hear more. I do find it funny that the tiny label Ecstatic Peace is affiliated with a major label, who would've thought? Granted SY have been on a major for years, this label was always putting out weird stuff since he started it and the fact that a major would even agree to be involved is very strange.

ive never seen anything written about this band that dosnt compare them to red kross.
sure BYOPs music isnt the best,but i garauntee they get a harder time than they deserve because theyre young, attractive,and caught a lucky break.
not that being young and attractive probably hurt their luck,...

but anyways, Cheap Time is awesome.

Cheap Time is awesome, their 7" is great. Jeff Novak from the Rat Traps plays guitar too, which only adds to the awesome factor.

Stoked! Their first album was ace. I also heard that the gig they played here last time turned into Anarchy. Well jealous I haven't seen them live.

I saw them live last summer, and they quit playing after a few songs because the crowd wasn't into them. I thought they were pretty pitiful. The lead singer was stumbling around the stage like she was wasted, and she had big black "X"'s on both of her hands.

so she probably got X's because shes not 21,but its usually not to hard,especially if youre in the band playing,to get drunk at shows...

i saw a vid from their lollapolooza set...the bassist was out of tune for most of the set and had no idea..like it makese me upset, they aren't bad i guess..but they're just some kids that got EXTREAMLY lucky. like how can someone play a fest like lolla and not own a pedal tuner...like it blows my mind!
