TKO to reissue AntiSeen‘s ’The Boys From Brutalsville'

AntiSeen's 2001 comeback album The Boys From Brutalsville will be reissued on July 10th as a CD / DVD combo via TKO Records. The album, which has been out of print for several years, has been expanded to a digipak with four bonus tracks and a bonus DVD. That disc will feature music videos and live footage from the Los Angeles stop of 2001's "Rolling Blackouts" west coast tour in support of the record.

The review of this album on this site is hilarious. I love how all the AntiSeen's fans rallied and post a bunch of times saying people were too stupid to understand the album and that they were fags.

Apparently, you're all wrong. They have a tribute CD out called "Everyone Loves Antiseen". How can you have a title like that without everyone really loving them?

ANTiSEEN's Southern Hostility is still one of my favorite albums of all time. It's true alot of folks don't "get" ANTiSEEN or even attempt to give them a try. GG Allin did record with them a few times and Jeff Clayton has fronted the Murder Junkies. ANTiSEEN is an aggressive RocknRoll-Blues band.

Yes, they are from the sticks of the South and they're not from well off families. But Jeff Clayton is the real deal, go ahead, put him down, call him white trash and a redneck. It's OK for Avail to make a career out of pretending to be redneck Southern white trash, even though they're not from the same background as Jeff Clayton and the rest of ANTiSEEN .ANTiSEEN puts on one hell of a show and have outlast many bands.

For ANTiSEEN, they've had to try ten times harder to make it as far as they have. Do you think backwater Dixie is a supportive place to start and maintain a band on an indie label? Do you think Jeff Clayton's mommy wires him money when runs out of cash and gas on tour?

How come it's OK for punks to trash Southern white folks from lower economic backgrounds and then glorify inner city black folks? Does poor white trash make you uncomfortable? Are they allowed to be punk too? Or should only upper economic,colleged white with a few token ethnic minorities should apply to called a punk band?

I don't really have an opinion one way or the other about AntiSeen but don't for a minute act like Avail has made some "career" out of being a phony southern band.
1) they're from Richmond, Tim (I don't know about the rest of the band) still lives there, that's what they write about. Maybe it's different than AntiSeen who are from North Carolina but it's in no way being fake. They don't claim to be from anywhere else and they aren't an act.
2) Don't use the word "career" with Avail. They love the band but it isn't a job and they barely make money at it. When I interviewed Tim he said that last year he made $12,000 and none of it was off music. So don't act like Avail is rolling high on some southern bandwagon while the AntiSeen toil away.

Hey-

My point was not to mock Avail, they have worked fairly hard at what they do over the years. But they are from Reston, I have their first 7in and demo, they're great guys and really care about music and their fans,but they are not of Southern stock(ie Virginia farming, coal working or mill working families) and they are from an upper economic bracket and from a planned suburb called Reston.

As adults, Avail have chosen to live in Richmond(where many of their members attended college), and to embrace their blue collar surroundings. Good for them, I don't doubt Avail has worked hard and have been upright folks. But many outside the Richmond area really think that they are the real hillbilly, white trash deal.

Mean while, ANTiSEEN, a band from the real sticks fronted by a true Southern madman (at one time a pro wrestler) , that practiced at one time in a trailer and gets their mail delivered to Momma Clayton 's farm/trailer is rejected because they're too real white trash deal.

I can see I did not get my point across. Here's my two cents, classism is accepted in the punk as long as it is directed toward lower economic whites, ie all the white trash cracks directed at ANTiSEEN.

I respect you, Avail and ANTiSEEN. I am asking you to take a good look on how it's OK to put down "rednecks, white trash and poor honkeys" within the punk scene. And I'd like you to take a listen to ANTiSEEN. That's all. Take care and goodnight....

Like I said, I have no feelings one way or the other toward AntiSeen. I'm just not letting someone shit on Avail. Maybe I just like them for different reason but I don't see them as "the real white trash deal", I just see them as honest folk.
Maybe if I get the chance I'll look into AntiSeen, musically they don't sound like my cup of tea but I'll see. Anyhow, I don't think it's a class issue in punk rock, lots of great bands I know are dirt poor. I think part of it is the image they portray of being anti-intellectual. I, realize the "redneck white trash" stuff is ignorant, but I think people are more upset that they seem to be bigoted or close minded (not poor or uneducated) but that seems to be AntiSeens thing. But I really don't know their reasoning. Nothing wrong with being where you're from and being proud of it, nothing wrong with being poor.
I promise if I ever develop an opinion one way or the other on AntiSeen it won't be based on them being "white trash" or "hicks".

Most people don't hate on AntiSeen for being poor and white. They hate on them for their display of the confederate flag, a symbol of hatred and racism. It's an issue of bigotry, even if it's just for shock value.

Might I suggest smoking a joint or getting a blowjob? Not all people see the Confederate Flag as what you portray it. Open a book and maybe learn about the things you speak about. It'll be a good start and you won't have to look like such a kook.
