like 6 years back i think it was w/ifs was one of the secret guests at a battle of the bands for skate and surf in new jersey and i had no idea who they were, but from that set i fell in love with them and have been a fan ever since.

It might help if you took your head out of the "punk-o-sphere" for a minute. Outside of this website I haven't heard shit about this band or the new release. And as this site is a pretty small part of my life their new album doesn't seem to be that big of a deal for me.
Maybe I'll change my tune if I see New Wave ads on the bus stop or park benches.

I think a lot of people on the org forget that this board DOES NOT reflect reality. Sure, we've heard all kinds of stuff about the new Against Me album, but probably about 95 percent of mainstream music listeners have NO IDEA (hey, a pun!) who Against Me is. A punk band like Rise Against is way more popular in the mainstream than Against Me, and few people know who Rise Against is either. Neither Against Me or Rise Against is anywhere close to as popular as Green Day. There is absolutely no comparison.

Well, because most bands who have made the jump to major either have an extremely limited pressing or they do it as an almost shitty after thought (Lifetime).
Second, I dig the artwork (it's totally subjective) and third I didn't even mention "White People for Peace", so score for reading comprehension.

in my opinion, the artwork reflects the same lack of creativity and inspiration that went into writing a mediocre song like "white people for peace". this is their major label debut and that's the best that they could come up with? all signs point towards disaster.

if you really want me to get into it, coming from a background in art and graphic design, the cover is GOD AWFUL. their past covers are admittedly simple, but they at least displayed some sort of idea or thought process. the cover of "new wave" is fucking BORING. it probably took about 2 minutes to pull up a google image search and say, "hey...that's a cool picture...let's slap it on the front of our new album!"

The point is, the guy said Dante was unqualified to think the artwork was cool, and that he, a graphic designer, knows more than him. My point was, using the same logic, he is unqualified to make any statements about the song. I wasn't saying anything about Against Me!, White People For Peace, or New Wave. I'm not sure what you mean by is the dvd just a making of or something more, but the thing I saw was just a making of. I reckon the final version may also include those videos from the Key Club. It's possible the WP4P video will be there, but the video for the single definitely wont be.

Also, (and this is a later addition) the record is done in 180 gram vinyl. Which (while pretty standard) is heavier and generally considered the better vinyl. It also indicates that a vinyl version was planned for and taken into account and not just done to rake in cash.

I don't understand people sometimes. Indie labels usually succeed when bands sell. Does anyone realize when Anti-Flag and Against Me! sign to majors that it gives Fat to sign an umpteenth amount of bands. Signing to a major is just a needed process in the world of indie music. It's so fucked up of people to be so pissed at a band for becoming a little bit bigger.

Anarchy and Utopian ideology are completely different things. When i refer to anarchism i mean strictly anarchism as in those who say "I am an anarchist, up tha punx, riot riot riot!" I'm pretty sure a great deal of people would love if we could all coexist peacefully, but that doesn't mean they are anarchists in any sense, and they all realize that could never happen, unlike the self proclaimed anarchists who are usually thirteen with no coherent knowledge of how the world works.

I don't have the time or energy to post similar diatribes after every response similar to yours, I skimmed through and decided to reply. As for anarchism, when you look at the history of anarchism which began in the mid 1800's with Prodhon (not Johnny Rotten) while it is overly utopian, it still makes a little bit of sense. Unfortunately, punk rock has ruined the credibility of anyone with anarchist beliefs or ideas as they are automatically dismissed as part of a rebellious fashion trend. At the same time, Proudhon's ideas and theories may have been plausible in 1840, but due to advances in technology, and the growing greedy spirit of mankind, it's very unlikely that they would be successful if implemented in modern society.
