Bad Brains plan listening parties, events for album release

With their highly anticipated new album set to drop next week, Bad Brains has announced some pre-release plans for the coming days. The band will be releasing Build a Nation on June 26, 2007. As originally reported, the album was produced by Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys and is the first non-Beastie record to be recorded at the Beastie Boys' Oscilloscope Laboratories and Studio compound in New York City.

Along with listening parties in major cities in the US, the band will be performing on New York's Temptress Cruise Ship as part of the Rocks Off Concert Series on June 25. It's an album release party that will sail around Manhattan.

YA HOMOPHOBIA IS SO ORIGINAL PUNX TOTALLY. I'll make sure to pick up that classic Minor Threat EP "I Just Hate Black People" later, it's so often overlooked by "non-pc" punks.

I might sound stupid, but can someone tell me exactly what a listening party is? Do they just play the reocrd and people dance around like a live concert? Or do they just play it in the background and people talk like at a dance club?

not a stupid question. I don't know for sure but I think they just play the album while people hang out. I doubt it's supposed to simulate a live show. Now THAT wold be retarded.

haven't heard this album yet but I love these guys... and yes you probally would have to be over 27 at least to understand these guys...
homophobe? maybe - who cares really... Punk used to be half way about shock value and half way about meaning something but then it became a trend... even when it wasn't a trend... it was still a trend... ah well.

This album is REALLY FUCKING GOOD. Possibly the best reggae material Bad Brains has released, and they can still thrash the metal as well. Granted HR doesnt have the same style, but cmon, the guy is 51... Don't expect CBGBs 1982...

And in regards to HR being a homophobe... who cares? Its a religious thing and I may not agree with it, but I'm not gonna sit here and judge he and bad brains because he wasnt PC enough. Fuck that. "Don't Blow Bubbles" is actually a good song, musically, even if the lyrics are "homophobic." Artists can express themselves however they want. If they offend, they offend.

Build a Nation is excellent. I have had it for a month and have been pleasantly surprised, because I must admit I was skeptical. After I see them next week at the record release show, I'll post a review.

LIstening parties are gay. No really-- I can't imagine listening to any bands record good or bad at a bar. These listening parties should be at record stores. Too many distractions at a bar. Still it would be interesting to see how many people actually make it out to listen to the first good Bad Brains album in 18 years

This album is incredible. This is the closest they've come to "B. IN DC" and I've had it on heavy rotation for the last 2 days. But I'm not really surprised to see that so many people in this forum are disappointed with the album. It can frighten Good Charlotte fans.

Why all the hate for the new Bad Brains album? 'Pure Love' is an awesome songs...and it rocks harder than any of the cookie cutter punk we've heard lately. Bad Brains is unique- you can't deny that. Reggae and hardcore punk? Give it time- everyone's going to be talking about this album.
