Elvis Costello launches ten-part podcast series

Influential songwriter and performer, Elvis Costello has launched a new ten-part podcast series. Costello will talk candidly "one on one" about the first ten years of his career through the series. The first two episodes are already available online, and new episodes will follow every Tuesday until August 21st.

You can check out individual episodes or subscribe via this iTunes link.

The series coincides with the recent compilations with track listings supervised by Costello himself. The Best of Elvis Costello -- The First 10 Years rounds up 22 songs from the period.

put down the guitar and go to bed. there is absolutely no reason for this guy to be in any headlines anymore. its not like all of a sudden he is going to say anything insightful about these songs, unlike me. i bet music critics like me and many others could be much more insightful

Donny, you're out of your element! Seriously though, I think you're wrong on that Bonesy. I recently saw Elvis on Austin City Limits. His interview at the end was really insightful. If the podcast is anything like that it would be well worth checking out.

i remember reading something funny about this guy. he was talking about bands at woodstock 99 and called the offspring "a trendy new band that is a bunch of noise".. uhh in 99 they were no where near "new" and were already in the mainstream for 5 years by then. he sounded like a bitter old man talking about all the bands. it was funny.

You have a valid point about that, but in his defense, the Offspring blew chunks at woodstock 99. I had paid to see the show broadcast live on cable (as I had terrible taste in music at the time) and the Offspring, who were one of my favorite bands, sounded like shit. Dexter's vocals were scratchy and terribly off key, and what's worse is, since they were still MTV sweethearts, when I had seen clips of them performing on MTV later, they had dubbed over his vocals to make it sound better.

For some reason I would have expected these to be a little longer. 6:23 and 7:59 seem a little short.

I've always wondered who the market was for the sheer volume of shit this guy puts out every year. If you have "My Aim Is True" and maybe "This Year's Model" plus a greatest hits comp somewhere along the line - I'd say you've got more than enough.

That would maybe be true if you weren't a fucking idiot.

My Aim Is True isn't even one of his best albums, and the next 4 or 5 albums all slaughtered it. His greatest hits comps for the most part are garbage compared to the album work too.
